I think you are right about the normal users but I think they alienated a big percentage of top mods. I think the consequences of that are just starting to manifest.

For a Dropbox-y experience (albeit slow) I have been using SpiderOak. I wanted an E2E encrypted cloud backup and it fits the bill (Snowden Approved™). I can't help feeling I could get faster and cheaper results with something hand-rolled but... time

Yeah, the international politics of climate are absolute shit. I think we have to survive and resist this worldwide lurch rightwards before that will change.
I happen to believe fascism isn't inevitable, just has to be continually resisted. I also think that using fascism to describe anything that isn't "pure" socialism removes all the meaning from the word and makes it less useful against people like Trump.
