If your need is backups, it's definitely not the right product. Drive is a product for your working files, not a bucket for sending your backups. There's vastly cheaper and more sensible options out there for backups.

Have you checked? I'm merely an Unlimited user and I already have the drive app.

According to this post, it's not that they don't want to, it's that GrapheneOS can't be certified:

https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/475-wallet-google-pay/9

That post implies that there is something Google won't do which prevents them from certifying, which supports what the OP was saying.

you are being deliberately deceptive here and I hate people like that

To be fair, you have no idea if they are being deceptive. They might simply not be aware that GrapheneOS chose not to pay to get certified. I certainly didn't know that, and I'm not at all certain that Google would certify them if they chose to pay. Do you have a source for that?

Thanks for this! I wasn't aware that you could convert a sharded seed back into a plain 12-word seed. I'll have to give this a go.

What distro? I'm on the same yearly cycle but haven't found a home yet.

I use this script: https://forum.obsidian.md/t/mention-support-for-people-identities/6163/43

There are some other good solutions in that thread also if that one doesn't suit.

I don’t really think Trustpilot is a good place to get info, a la Yelp.

Hard disagree on that, I've found it invaluable as a tool for assessing the safety of a company. Sure you're going to get some idiots who simply don't know how to use the tool and go online to bitch about it, but if you're seeing a significant number of people making the same complaints about support or having domains withdrawn from them, it certainly makes me suspicious.

Thank you for your reply though, it's good to hear that some people are having success. My understanding from the reading I've done online is that they used to be a lot better but have fallen in quality over the last 2 years.

Link for anyone else: https://2fas.com/

Thanks for the recommendation, I had not seen this project before and it looks fantastic.

Have you used Njalla? I was considering them recently, but these reviews gave me serious pause:

What was the issue with Namecheap? I've been using them since 2008 and wondering if there's something I should be aware of.

Thanks for the links, I will go exploring. And for the record I don't think it's controversial to call someone a tankie - as stated today is the first time I've heard the word.
