my m2 max struggles with 2 4k displays at 60hz. But I have a feeling that is more of an issue with my dock (cal digit ts4) than the MacBook itself

Wanted to cross-post something I am trying to do daily on the dit.reformed.social instance, just to spur on some discussion and encouragement!

My exact thoughts were "Why in the world... Just... A name change? Really?"

starwind converter can export to a qemu image though, which can them import into proxmox.

I used the converter to move from hyper-v to proxmox just last month.

But what are the ramifications of doing away with the “free” version of RHEL in the form of centos/alma/rocky?

Personally, I never ran anything with CentOS, and haven’t touched RedHat since version 6, but I am very very comfortable spinning something up in Ubuntu or Debian at work because that’s what I’ve run on home and personal projects for the past 15 years. Although at work we are a windows shop, and few things are running Linux.

When the community doesn’t have as much experience and hands-on time with RHEL spin-offs, are the sysadmins that would make the call on what OS to use going to choose one they have little to no experience on? Or is red hat so ingrained into corporate type networks that nobody will blink at the choice and just do it?

I think you were trying to post to [email protected], right? you posted this as a comment

that's a fair question, but I thought the point of lemmit was to serve as a content link to aid the adoption of lemmy, and since I use the sysadmin subreddit for alerts on outages, thought it might be nice to get those same posts on lemmy so I don't have to venture over to reddit.

Lemmy is a replacement for Reddit. It is part of the Fediverse, meaning you can use your account on the reformed.social instance to communicate with anyone on any other Lemmy instance, so your social circle can go beyond just those on reformed.social.

I got this domain a few years ago after seeing a need for social media / communications services that are decentralized. I wanted to help provide services on reformed.social to give a space for Reformed Christians to have discussions, make friends, and support one another, and to try to recreate the same type of experiences we have seen on the larger social media platforms, with as few of the negatives as possible.

My vision for reformed.social is to be an alternative to the larger social media / cloud giants, but still embrace a way to have a larger social circle than just the people on reformed.social. With that in mind, any services that are provided by reformed.social should have some kind of federation built in, meaning that any users of reformed.social services can communicate on other similar services hosted elsewhere.

For information on the services provided on Reformed.social, visit the Reformed.Social Services community for a list of the currently available services.

What is it? Matrix is a chat / video calling / communications service. It can replace WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, iMessage, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, etc. It is part of the Fediverse, meaning you can use your account on the reformed.social instance to communicate with anyone on any other matrix instance, so your social circle can go beyond just those on reformed.social.

Matrix needs other software to use as a chat client, as matrix is just the server itself. That's where Element comes in. There is a web version of Element that is hosted by Reformed.social, or you can download and use the application on your desktop or phone.

Sign Up Information There is not an easy way built into Matrix for me as an administrator to force people to go through an approval process, which means that isn't a simple site that you can go to in order to sign up.
The easiest way that I can be a gatekeeper is to have you send a private message to me, either here or on mastodon (@[email protected]), to get an account.
