If I were to create a new instance of lemmy do I set up my own server in my house, or am I just creating an instance on one of the lemmy servers?

Many times when I have a long message to type up on my phone (iphone 7) ( ios 15.7.7 ) I will tap the keyboard as if I am going to type up a message but then hit the microphone so I can just use voice to text and just speak my message. This worked in wefwef when I first installed the app on my phone the day after apollo ceased to be. It stopped working yesterday sometime in wefwef. When I try to compose a response to a comment or a post, i hit the microphone icon on my iphone, it makes the sound as if the microphone activated but then as soon as I start to speak, the microphone turns right back off.

This is only a problem in wefwef (i realize it is now called voyager but I haven't uninstalled and re-installed .. so for me on my iphone 7 it is still called wefwef).

I know the developers are putting out 1 to 3 updates a day for us, which is crazy when you think about it, but can someone try to figure out what is going on with the mic issue?

edit: restarted phone, it fixed the problem

Ok this is an odd one. If I am on an Iphone running wefwef (now voyager) and i search for (just for example) [email protected] it will find that community. But if I go to my pc and do the same search it will say "Nothing to see here - this feed is completely empty". the only differences are : on my phone I have the app on home screen and it looks like it is using Safari. On my pc i am using the brave browser to get to the site of lemmy.

any ideas of why it finds a community on the phone but not on the pc?

edit: ok after I made this post (via the pc) and tried a few more times to search for that community .. it now shows up in the search .. any ideas of why it is now finding it?

The northern lights are going to be viewable this week, I’m curious if anybody knows if it will be all week or just Thursday night

The top bar that should show time and battery power is not visible if in light mode. Any way to fix that?

When looking at a post in wefwef it shows upvote downvote and then a symbol like a flag (the save icon I assume) but I click it and nothing happens. Is there a way to save a post?
