I strongly recommend against signing up for aussie.zone. The admin, Lodion, is an immature tyrant.

I think your behaviour there, not to mention you underhandedly linking the thread from here, serves as adequate warning of what an immature tyrant you are, and that this instance is doomed.
I would strongly warn ppl away from the aussie.zone instance. The admin has very quickly proved themselves to be an immature tyrant.
Hmm, accidentally hit the wrong button and deleted the whole comment (too easy to do).
Here's a copy :
Ok, I've just discovered that the admin of this Fediverse instance (Aussie Zone) is an immature tyrant and an absolutely terrible moderator. So this is where my participation here ends, and I will have to find a better refuge than this one.
If you want to see why I came to the above conclusion, you can review my participation in an Australia thread here :
https://aussie.zone/comment/134607
I'm fine with ppl who disagree with the viewpoint I was expressing in that thread, but this instance obviously isn't a place that allows any semblance of free speech.
(Note: I had to sign up to another instance to post this here, as the admin has banned my account in this instance. And with them being such a tyrant, this comment will probably be quickly disappeared too, if they have the power to do that. Just wanted to warn others for however long it gets to remain here.)
Late edit : So the tyrannical and immature admin of this instance (aussie.zone) has also banned this account. This makes further replies and contributions of mine invisible to people viewing this instance. But I've found that all my comments are still visible from another instance. For example, you can see them here :
https://lemmy.world/comment/240054
(includes replies to Zagorath and to the admin, showing up their hypocrisy)
I appreciate ppl may not be interested in the particular interaction I had with them. But I'm commenting to document how tyrannical this admin is and to warn people away from this instance (aussie.zone), which is looking to be even more overtly controlled than r/Australia ever was.
The reality is that Russia has majority support amongst the world's population and in countries outside Europe. That is what I was stating and it's a reality. I don't need to argue why they support Russia over NATO and the USA (although I could, and in detail).
That fact is very relevant under a submission that details how Australia is treating Russia's Embassy in Australia in a highly prejudiced and disgraceful way. Such behaviour will certainly be noticed in other countries and it will reflect very poorly on Australia. That is the basis of my original comment. It's definitely not trolling and your comment accusing me of such (and those others who do likewise) only demonstrate a lack of intellectual rigour and, I would argue, a sizeable amount of immaturity.
less inflamatory language
Here's your note from the modlog on my banning :
Banned @[email protected]
reason: Uncivil tankie behaviour
Seems that calling someone a 'tankie' is civil and not inflammatory in the hypocritical world you exist in (and which I'm now gladly free of)
Yep.
I've had my run-ins with mods but I've always respected the 'janitorial' work they do on reddit and usually remember to thank them for that even when I'm arguing against some decision they made. Mods are critical to reddit, that should be obvious, and that it isn't obvious to spez, one of reddit's two co-founders, shows just how stupid and arrogant he is. He's going to end up killing the whole site because, while the majority of users may not be revolting, I believe the majority of mods are or will soon be, as this crisis deepens.
Your first two paragraphs are just the regurgitation of Western propaganda, so not worth addressing
Regarding this :
I’ll just go ask my Taiwanese and Vietnamese friends what they think, shall I?
I suggest you do actually go and ask some ordinary people in Vietnam what their opinion is. And you'd do well to ask people in Taiwan too. I've lived in Taiwan and know that many there see the US as (rightly in my opinion) an imperialist aggressor and whose sympathies lie much more with China. I suggest you also pay attention to the results of the upcoming election in Taiwan in 2024. The polling for Tsai Ing-Wen is going pretty badly right now. Seems the ppl of Taiwan are not terribly anxious to sign up to be the next proxy for the US and have their country destroyed, as Ukraine is sadly being destroyed now (the latest in a long list of countries that the US has taken control of and then sacrificed as pawns in their imperialist games).
Seems I'm still here
Which is interesting. You might be able to ban the visibility of my comments from other commenters logged in to Aussie Zone but it appears that anyone else may still be able to see them (at least, that's what I understand from @dekekun's comment). I'm still learning but it's good to see that immature tyrants such as yourself don't seem to have absolute power here.
I saw your other comment calling me a troll Zagorath and was disappointed. I'm quite clearly not trolling in that thread, I am expressing my viewpiont (and one that is shared by the majority of the world, as I directly addressed in that comment).
I've been aware of some of your, as I see it, immature political takes for some time on reddit. That's fine and in other contexts I've enjoyed interacting with you (we even did a bit of that here today under a submission of yours). Everyone can have their own views and their right to have those political views should be respected. But calling people whose views you don't agree with 'trolls' is highly immature. And banning them (or calling for them to be banned) for those views is much worse. Again, I was expressing my viewpoint in that thread, not trolling, and it is quite clear that I genuinely hold that viewpoint, as any review of my comment history on reddit will show.
The deleted comments can be seen in the reveddit link above
Obviously I'm bringing criticism of aussie.zone in that thread, so may not be welcome to some here, that's fine. But I think it's of interest to see how the mod team protect one of their own by selectively shaping a conversation. My criticisms of that mod were well founded and should be allowed to stay up in a healthily modded sub. But all too frequently on reddit, because yes, some users are willfully abusive to mods, they go way too far and delete all criticism of mods. And criticising Zagorath wasn't even my main point. I only mentioned them to demonstrate how foot-stomping on the head of a good r/brisbane contributor when they come across to a new community you're trying to get started isn't particularly smart behaviour from one of the r/brisbane mods (who is now very active here).
I got first muted and then banned today from r/brisbane (wrong way around, because the ban message invited me to respond to the message, which I obviously couldn't do, already being muted). Towards the end the mods were obviously freaking out, despite continually patting themselves on the back for 'giving me a lot of leeway'.
