Sorry to hear you converted under such crappy circumstances. One of the first things I began seeing in "religious" people, not all mind you, is the hypocrisy. Once you start to see it it is everywhere. But it can make you a better person too. You don't have to rely on "god" encouraging you to do something. You have the power and moral to be a good person, not be gauged by some sky father for your actions. To me it makes it mean more when a person does it out of personal responsibility than "because god said" types. Tons of others out there with similar stories, keep your chin up brother.

So sorry to hear that. Being cheated on is one of the most painful experiences. But it is a common thing I've seen from religious people. My best buddy found Jesus again because he is dating a married woman that is hardcore religious. They've been cheating together for nearly 15 years now. She is married to her husbands money and strings my buddy along like a puppy. Looks down on others because they don't do what she believes the bible wants. Fantastic hypocrisy right? I do hope there is an actual Hell for those type because they rarely suffer the consequences for their lack of following their own religion.

I disagree with all the tracking companies are forcing on us. While some of it is necessary and can be very beneficial that isn't how our data is largely being used. With that I just don't buy Sony, Ubisoft, or other companies products any longer. I do miss out on playing some games my friends are all talking about but I do not cave just to be in the hype.

Treat these companies like that crazy ex. You know they are bad for you and what you are signing up for if you keep coming back.

Last bit is what they are potentially going to do with that data in the future. If they can build your online profile tailored to you they are going to milk you in ways you can't even fathom. Creating a reason to get you to part with more money. This is not a future I believe any gamer wants when the games are made to make you pay more for the experience. Before anyone says it isn't like that, tell it to all the AI companies scrapping pre-AI data now. We aren't making a deal with the devil, we are helping them create the devil.

Having had cancer 20+ years ago as a teen I can vouch that the healthcare system here has ruined my life. Survived the stage 3 head cancer and the side effects? Wonderful! NOW PAY UP FOR THE REST OF YOUR PROGRESSIVELY WORSE LIFE! Ahh joys of unchecked capitalism.

Holy crap the shit I heard friends talking about recent Blizz fuck ups and not the same company. Nearly everyone I know signed up for D4 without batting an eye. So much for showing them with your wallet. Oh wait that micro transaction store sure will.

On one hand you may get to live that "normal" life you have thought about for most of your life, instead of wondering why you are different.

On the other hand I'd lose the logical thinking, the emotional disconnect to make proper decisions, the perspectives that few ever see, and more unique traits that I have learned to utilize to my advantage.

So my answer would be absolutely not. It doesn't have to be a disability. Learn what you are, how you work and build yourself up off of what you have. I see to many "normal" folks that are so much more of a mess in life because they cannot see themselves. Now a bit of egotistical here, I fully believe if more people were able to think and rationalize like myself the world would be a much better place.

Checking out Lemmy and looking to get my reddit subs here. Can't deal with C-Suite greed ruining things any longer. Aside from our favorite companies and now reddit what other recent companies have you seen fall prey to short term gains?
