I read somewhere (but have no verification of this fact to offer) that the person in the picture isn't even the one doing this and it's a weird stalker / revenge situation going on here.

Nice, seems like a perfect place to start. I actually started watching TNA around the time of a regime change too, so it works.
Haven't started watching yet, although I've checked out about 5 minutes of the beginning segment with the four hosts (commentators?) talking about stuff. I was kinda hoping it would be a subtitled download by now but funnily enough, after a few repeated watches of the Ghost in the Shell franchise, it's not complete gibberish to me anymore.
I don't know exactly what they're talking about but I can figure out what's going on and get the idea. And pick up basic shit yes or no and types of greetings. Makes me wonder if I should pair getting into Stardom with some Duolingo.
Not just anime. As a DC comics fan over the last few years, a lot of how WB does business looks pretty fucking stupid to me too. I'm willing to bet that if I visit the DC Universe website right now, it's still going to say something like "not available in your country but keep checking back because we're working on it!" just like it did 5+ years ago.
And they've been handling (HBO) Max with same sort of 'urgency'. So we'll get the movies on the big screen but as far as the tie in series go, maybe they'll make it to Netflix some time after you've already been spoilered everywhere you look online, in the DC fan spaces you visit.
One of the funniest things was when James Gunn shared a clip of some school kids in Philippines (I think) doing the choreographed intro sequence dance for Peacemaker along with the theme song. Before Peacemaker was even legally available there.
Yeah, watching this unfold makes me wonder just how useless things like a constitution and laws and due process really are in every other country. Because apparently none of those things actually matter and some rich asshole that wasn't elected can seize power tomorrow if they want. While no one does anything about it. Makes it all seem like a big joke.
Sadly, he's probably right. Going by what I've seen from Canada and Mexico, there'll be outrage, beating of chests and elaborate plans to counter the tariffs, followed by a headline less than 24 hours later saying that the countries in question have folded and agreed to Trump's demands.
Haha I mean I was half joking when I said that people would be identifying with these memes but still, my faith in people is pretty low at this point. So while it would perturb me, I'm not sure if it would surprise me anymore if some red hat idiot clutching their Trump™ bible looked at this very obvious piss take of a meme and thought "hell yeah!"
Yeah, this place is funny right now but I'm just waiting for that moment somewhere in the future where everyone realises that there's more people taking it seriously than as a joke around here, just like every circlejerk style community over time.
If there's people walking around that genuinely thought Donald Trump was some kind of freedom fighter that was going to make their eggs cheap, then there'll be people looking at these memes and thinking "ah finally someone gets me."
My respect for Chapell Roan's persona/politics and her showmanship caused me to listen to her stuff less judgmentally
This makes me think of another pop star that has crossed this boundary for me before - Pink. I don't think I liked her music as much as I found myself liking this today but she definitely came across more as a rockstar doing pop than a pop star. So I had a respect for her and kinda enjoyed her songs if I ever heard them on the radio or wherever.
The vibes are probably playing a big part for Chappell Roan to as far as I'm concerned but it also helps that she's going for that old school sound, which kinda sets her apart musically too.
Having stomped my feet and stormed off from TNA in protest of Tessa Blanchard, I think that in addition to trying to get into Stardom, I'm gonna start checking out NXT.
For Stardom, I think I'm going to go back in time a year. I found a download on the archive for All Star Grand Queendom 2024 and I'm going to take it from there, slowly making my way through PPVs (or also weekly shows if I really need to). I'm thinking that'll probably be the best way to get you know everyone and how things work, while easier access to translations and / or subtitles without any wait. So this is gonna be a long term thing to get into.
And for my immediate needs and to fill the hole for my weekly soap opera drama, I think I'm gonna start with the closest NXT PPV and catch up from there. I get the impression that they also feature women's wrestling a lot, plus I'd be seeing the Knockouts there. And it seems disconnected enough from the main roster that Raw and SmackDown would be optional, not mandatory. Although, honestly, I might check out how people like MCMG, the Lucha Bros and Jordynne Grace are doing too.
Yeah, sadly the pro wrestling lifestyle seems to fuck these guys up properly more often than not. I never actually saw Vampiro in his heyday but he strikes me as the kind of madman that did a lot of head related offense lol.
We actually never got WCW in my country I'm pretty sure until the Monday night wars were over and Vince already owned it. If I'm remembering correctly, we got it on TV around the time the invasion was already going on in WWE. And it wasn't on TV for very long either. From what I can tell, WWF/E had already won the war outside of the USA and beat WCW to those markets. On that note, I wouldn't mind finding and checking out old ECW shows, another important part of history I missed here.

Thanks for the new website to add to my bookmarks! Honestly the timezone usually kills me, which is why I watch the next day normally, but maybe Japanese time will be kinder to me than US timezones. And it's worth having a near all nighter for the occasional show sometimes.
Ah yeah I assumed the good wrestling torrents were probably locked behind a registration somewhere. I barely ever see wrestling torrents on standard sites and when they do exist, the seeding is poor. My go to through the years has usually been the watchwrestling websites, but they seem to only ever deal in WWE, AEW, TNA, ROH and NJPW. I found a steam for this Stardom show in yandex search results (it's basically better than any other mainstream search engine for pirate shit) but still, not my preferred route.
God fuck AAA and fuck Konnan lmao
And fuck Vampiro too lol. Say what you will about Matt Striker, the guy had to do two commentators jobs when he was working with Vampiro because all you could get out of the guy was burps, farts and hot takes like "I dunno man, it's just pro wrestling". Lucha Underground was good in spite of him.
Just finished the first match for the 'Future of Stardom' championship, I'm guessing these ladies are kinda like young lions or in the development division. Seems like a great match to start with and give me someone to follow on their upward arc.
I honestly zoned out most of the commentary and Pink Devil did a victory speech at the end that sounded snarky and cocky as fuck. I'm honestly thinking I could just get by with looking up old reviews afterwards, and looking up any specific wrestler I'm interested in though.
And I'm glad to hear that I seem to have chosen a time to start when problematic management has just been ousted.
