Zealous
I think it's because they just can.
Especially in a more conservative society like Japan that has deep roots in the windows ecosystem (love for excel comes to mind). What other alternatives would the average office worker use? There's no way I could ever convince my boss to move to Linux, OpenOffice / LibreOffice
I'm using wefwef (voyager) and I can't see the difference unfortunately
I was a broke adolescent back in 2011, but now I am a working adult with some disposable income. So the image is accurate.
I unexpectedly had the opportunity to move to Japan straight after university, and so took it. Before that, Japan and learning Japanese wasn't even on my radar (I minored in German, hoping to work there actually).
I've been here for 5 years now and within the past year, I've been itching to try living somewhere else/learn new languages, but it's not so easy when I've invested so much time into Japan/Japanese.
Yeah I saw a chocolate mint latte near where they keep the milk / bubble tea stuff.
I just looked and I've noticed an increase in mint ice cream and beverages...but maybe those were there before and I didn't realize?
League of Legends. I've sank so many hours into it a few years back. It's not a bad game, just highly addictive and toxic. It was only really worth playing it with friends, but now they've all moved on.
I haven't bought the game yet because I'm afraid of getting hooked on it..
I used to go out alone when I first came here, but I became a regular at a local place, so anytime I go, there's always someone I'm familiar with there.
It's all perspective dude. Yeah life in Japan can be a drag, but at least we're not in North Korea.
I always try to see the positive in the situation. For example, I work in a Japanese company and the work culture and pay is not so good, but on the other hand, it allows me to practice my Japanese and gain a deeper insight into the culture.
Also I appreciate living here more when I realize that I probably won't be here forever to enjoy the things that make Japan great (good food, public safety, not needing a car, etc)
Leave for work at 8:30am Work from 9am-6pm Get home around 7pm Depending on if I have leftovers, I'll cook something and do house chores. I'll also try to fit the gym in either before or after work (1 hour)
That leaves me with about 2-3 hours of free time, in which I'll either study Japanese or work on some IT stuff as I'm still early in my career.
As for weekends, they're pretty boring. I've been living in this small city for 5 years and been all over the prefecture. I'll teach some private students and normally go out drinking on Saturday night.
I'm mid-20s and also am questioning if there's more to life than this. I'll probably move back home or to Tokyo in the next year or so, but I don't expect my lifestyle to change much.
What is that? Is it good?
