Ramune. Old-fashioned carbonated drink named after lemonade. There’s a glass bead that gets trapped in the neck of the bottle when you open it and it rolls around and makes a pleasant ringing sound as you drink.

Sounds like this are synonymous with cooling down in the summer and the concept of “Ryo” in Japanese culture.

I like it, in moderation, and definitely in a glass bottle.

Ah I remember drinking it a few years back. It was alright but I'd still take a mitsuya cider over the one I had. Also is it just me or are they kinda hard to find?

I generally only ever look if I’m at a festival and don’t feel like a beer, and never have trouble finding one.

I spotted this at Family Mart in Tokyo.

Nice! I picked up a couple the other day at donkey for the kids. Definitely a novelty being in the glass bottle with the bead up top.

I’ve always wondered how the bead gets in there though hmm. A question for the ages

Hint: The blue plastic cap and bead go on to the neck of the glass bottle together…
