Same, I love how a lot of my favorite reddit subs are growing on lemmy now!

I always say "Oh now I can only remember that word in German" to cover for the fact that I simply don't remember the English word.

This is such a simple statment but for me, it makes all the difference! It's a compounding effect too, so in the evening, I still have enough reserves and I'm not on edge or dead tired from fighting my brain all day.

Huel is very oaty, I had it for a while until I tried some other brands. I currently drink YFood Chocolate which is a lot like a milk shake, the other flavors are good too. There's a larger number of complete foods brands now than just a few years ago, you could try some to see if these are to your taste. I'm allergie to soy so my selection is a bit limited.

Love this, just be careful you're not damaging your teeth with the acidity. I had that issue with kombucha, but if you're just adding a drop of lemon, I guess it's not as damaging!

Edit: Since we are on @frugal, I make my own kombucha!

For me, the focus and quietness in my brain were a definite indicator at first. After a bit (three days I guess, once the initial euphoria wore off), I realized I am a lot less frustrated and have more mental capacity left in the evenings to be social. Work has been more focused, although maybe not as pronounced at it used to be initially. I do feel a difference when I don't take my meds some days - it's when I realize I am still sitting, watching TV instead of being a little more productive.

For me personally, anxiety in social situations often is caused by sensory overstimulation. Background music, multiple people speaking, missing social cues - this adds up and makes me dread larger group settings because I know I will be overwhelmeld at some point. It helps knowing that the group is aware of my issues but I've had my share of outbursts or visits cut short which sucks!

This may be what your psychologist referred to as being aware of your needs? Being aware of when you may need a break or start to become more agitated in a social setting so maybe you can take a break or use earplugs / Loops?

Similar story here, change in hormones brought on more pronounced symptoms which led to some soul-searching and self-reflection, and finally diagnosis. Unfortunately, due to medical reasons, I can't get any hormone treatments but I'm glad I am at least medicated now!

If you have access to other doctors, don't be afraid to shop around to find one that works with you on finding a good medication. As I understand it, it can be trial and error to find the best fit which may be a financial issue as well. I get that in the US especially, it can be challenging, it is worth it though when you consider how much of a positive impact this could potentially have on your life.

I've opted for complete foods like Huel powder (comparable to Soylent) as it takes the stress out of eating for me. For some reason, drinking my calories is a lot easier plus it's simple to just carry around some powder and mix it with water on the go when I feel hungry but too overwhelmed to find food.

Sounds interesting, what do you find sets it apart from "just" setting alarms on your phone?
