I think misinformation should be countered on merit of science. Something like Dr Prasad presented is the best way to arrive at an agreement that he is misinformed. The issue is that RFK has a half truth. Yes, CDC suffers from regulatory capture, yes there are a few vaccine out there that have small amounts of ingredients that contain mercury, yes autism spectrum disorder has been on the rise according to CDC (but not because of vaccine!), and yes big pharma enjoys legal protection from "vaccine injuries". Does that warrent his level of vaccine scepticism? In my opinion it doesn't, but I don't think RFK is the audience that needs convincing. His viewers, and those that see the half truth and buy the argument need to be informed. Framing it as a debate sounds adversarial, but a joint effort to discover truth should resonate with everyone. Otherwise it just looks like we are avoiding the discovery of some inconvenient truth. I don't know why you say RFK is acting in bad faith or has no interest in truth, but it seems we could discover whether that is true or not too, so why not?

You can't have critical takes on quackery without quackery, so I think quacks should be welcomed as long as they refrain from the things we don't like list. Just as would be the case for the critical thinkers. I'm not saying this is the case, but it is how I would like it.
I like the concept of lemmy better. I'm done with reddit admin fuckery. Reddit wants a bigger piece of the pie, and I suppose it is inevitable for a profit motivated company to go in that way. I might be ok if they were innovating for users too, but they are only innovating for investors and their bottom line. Where care for the community is the number one concern as a community member, financialization of the platform seems to be in direct conflict with that. This sort of sacrifice of community interest in favor of financial opportunities will continue to happen too because of Reddit's profit motive. The reddit value proposition outlook is bad as a user, and I'm out because of that.
I know Biden promised student debt reduction and failed to deliver. Would that make him a liar in your eyes? How do you know rfk is a liar and a grifter?
