I agree a bit but at the same time these beliefs and misstatements have to be confronted at some point.

Thankfully some people have much more patience than I do. I'll just throw my support behind them.

I really don't have anything to say here that hasn't been said already.

I'm just genuinely disappointed and tired of this nonsense. The statement isn't accurate and even if it was, that's a complete non-issue.

I hate how true this is.

What's worse is that many of the people who didn't fall into that trap have been waiting to responsibly have children later, which I also don't want. Finding anyone down here that is interested in being child free down here is a challenge and finding someone who doesn't expect to have a busy life to make up for it is even more difficult.

I’m shocked at how incompetent a public speaker he is.

Such is the way of authoritarian regimes.

Being a part of the GOP when Trump took over really came down to just agreeing with the man blindly and letting him treat you how he pleased. Trump can't stand to share the spotlight with anyone else meaning people in the GOP most likely aren't getting any experience as most of them share their big moments with the orange man who takes over immediately.

Most of these people have no personality outside of supporting Trump and they aren't capable of much either because they would make Trump nervous.

People don't understand that high numbers of people not voting is a symptom of a problem, not a problem itself.

It's such a good metric to have and unless you're a fan of authoritarian governments then I don't see why you would want mandatory voting. "Everything is fine in our country. Look at all of this engagement in our elections that we forced." That's what you sound like if you full on back mandatory voting.

[–] VinnyDaCat 5 points 3 months ago

I don't get the hate for non-voters. Mandatory voting is a dangerous practice due to the existence of the "donkey" vote.

Imagine if even 2/3s of the people who didn't vote in 2020 just voted for DT because he was the current sitting president and they had no interest in voting but were forced into doing so.

The only people I'm really upset with are the ones who have a clear viewpoint and understanding of the circumstances but didn't vote out of laziness or out of the belief that we'd win anyways. Those are the people that cost us 2016 and those are the ones that could potential cost us this election if they don't get out there.

Biden already made an admission that he knows these issues are going to occur.

Acknowledgement and action are different though. I assume that we're going to fuck around and find out because no one wants to get confrontational with the Republicans over it.

He's probably nervous regarding GOP fearmongering.

Any attempts by him to shore up security around the election will be labeled by Republicans as tampering and he probably doesn't want to be responsible for anything to come out of that especially if he's going into retirement after this term.

Obviously they're going to fearmonger regarding election results anyways despite being the ones who are more than likely going to attempt to alter the results but it'd still be adding fuel to the fire that he'll have to deal with. Don't really need to have the entire discussion on Republicans, their lack of logic and Democrats sometimes not quite being up to the task of dealing with the dumb fuckery put forth by them.

He'll have my utmost respect if he goes above and beyond to do this anyways though.

Walz is a great guy all around and it's really motivating as a voter to see him up there.

Not only is he a fantastic politician in regards to how he interacts with his constituents but he's incredibly liberal in regards to our countries politics. I feel like he's going to be a huge turning point for a lot of people, changing voting from "Can't let Trump get in" to "Maybe this country can actually improve."

Can people give it a rest already? I don't know why Lemmy users feel this need to get upset at people for doing what they want/need them to do.

Yeah, perhaps people should show more interest in being informed in current politics but at this point just take the W. The last thing we need right now is for blue voters to start pushing other people away from voting blue due to their attitudes.

For those of you who already understood the stakes surely you also understand that now is not the time to be dividing Kamala's supporters over petty feelings like this.

It's a shitposting meme. The poster has this pinned on their twitter:

That said... I have heard horror stories about poor theater staff finding cucumbers after the 50 shades premiere. Some of it was just people memeing and trying to prank but I'm not entirely sure about all of it.

Unless it's a YouTuber. Then they're possibly pronouncing it wrong so people will comment about their pronunciation and fuel the algorithm.
