Raised mormon, I think I knew for a long time I didn't think the religion was true, but the stigma of leaving was SO high I never allowed myself to consider it might not be true. Moved away for college and without family to make sure I went to church I just started skipping. My parents asked all the time and I eventually got tired of lying. I decided I needed to know for myself and half hour of google later I knew.

Complexity creep is a problem in my opinion... yeah, some cards are fun and have to have quite a few words, but being able to play without reading and rereading is also nice. And keeping track of board state gets tiring

I super relate to the fast turnover. I want to enjoy a set and have time with it and actually learn the cards and get a feel for them. Chase some. Have my opinions changed on some. Then later, slowly get excited for the next set.

Feeling like I can't keep up has me just ignoring whole products and sets

I don't mean to assume anything. I do feel like the plow company should ask the mall "where should we pile the snow?" Though. And the answer shouldn't be "into the parks"

The park (and trail) isn't owned by the mall, if they pushed snow into your backyard you might have a problem. I don't think "snow has to go somewhere" is a good enough excuse to abuse a public space

My hobbies are free diving and mountain biking, and my Spanish is getting conversational (ish). Weekend trips to local lakes and rivers in the summer, tons of mountain biking where I live. I love the ocean though so I hope to go to a coastal this year. Eventually I want to save up to visit some South American countries

Got one a few years back and I've been getting the emails that I'll lose my purchases if I don't make a meta account and I won't. Bye bye beatsaber. I'll wait for a better inside out steamvr headset in a couple generations

  1. Mountain bike - on my second bike now, my favorite hobby and form of exercise, excuse to get in nature with my dog, explored a lot of my state because of it.

  2. Kobo e-reader. The night light is amazing, I used to use a neck light for night reading to not wake my wife but this is way better. Easier to travel. The dyslexic font helps my dyslexic ass like 10% too which makes a huge difference in me reading more.

  3. My first raspberry pi in Jr high led to a career in software. Still love pis, and have even more toys now

I usually eat, drink, and watch Youtube until I'm tired and it makes things worse. Instead, play loud music and do chores, then exercise, then do something productive that you enjoy

Never has there been a company that I wanted to love so badly, but hate. I even proxy my pauper commander decks these days. In the magic world, so many bad decisions. 30 year anniversary cost $1k for non-legal cards. Power creep and complexity creep are frustrating. Huge inflation. Bad story. Bad quality cards. It could all be so much better, but they focus only on short term profit instead of the player experience

Just wanna point out that mountain biking, motorcycles, and ebikes are more dangerous than normal pedal cycling. Cars are also a huge factor in the safety of all 4 activities (though helmets don't help very much when you get ran over). But commuting on a pedal bike is actually only slightly more dangerous than walking. People don't often crash a bike without external factors when commuting.

So my point is, yeah, wear it, but don't worship it. Safety in each situation is nuanced and complicated. Helmet blaming or victim blaming can be an excuse to ignore larger variables like separated biking infrastructure, reasonable speed limits, and protected crosswalks that don't let cars share that time with the person crossing (in my city, right on red, and unprotected left - of parallel traffic to the crosswalk...).

I often get thanked for wearing a helmet and I always think "wish I didn't need to, but the cars in my city terrify me"
