I do not browse on my phone. Having been on Reddit for 14 years I had a hard time getting comfortable navigating. I recommend trying these two links Lemmy.old and Alexandrite . These helped me get comfy pretty fast.

If you browse on PC, I found that the Alexandrite UI (https://a.lemmy.world) made the transition easier for me. If you try it out use the drop-down at the top left to bounce between "subscribed", "local", and "all". "All" will help you find communities you like to subscribe to. Welcome and good luck.
I expect depression / self harm from doom-scrolling and social media consumption is up there.
A cast iron pan. Not only under $100 but will last generations. I just passed the one my father used and gave to me down to my Son when he moved out.
Ex-Catholic here, so I am watching from the sidelines.
As the current Pope is in ill health I have been wondering what the outcome will be when he passes. I think who they choose for the next Pope will be very telling with the current state of the world. Pope Francis was not popular with the conservative side of the church. With far right extremism on the rise world wide I am guessing the church is going to lean into it and we are going to see an ultra conservative Pope that will serve far right power structures. That being said I have little faith in the church to do the right thing so my opinion is skewed.
