The city can’t tell the Van Andel Arena they aren’t allowed to let Trump come in. And I’m sure they’re essentially obligated to provide a police presence and whatever else they’re charging his campaign for.

The city of Grand Rapids is pretty blue, and its government isn’t conservative. Huge swaths of West Michigan are conservative, and sure there are far more churches in GR than in most cities (it’s the central location for a few flavors of Reformed churches), but still. The city government aren’t exactly Trump supporters.

It is not the city residents being dumb, it is the city government being corrupt.

Grand Rapids isn’t a conservative city government. A lot of the surrounding area is, but GR itself isn’t. We just have the biggest arena around, so all the MAGAts come from all over West Michigan.

The city can’t stop him from campaigning here, they can’t go to the Van Andel arena and say, “No, you aren’t allowed to let Trump in.” They can just charge his campaign for any services provided, and then get shafted when he doesn’t pay.

Although “hippo” does come from the Greek word for horse, “hippos.” Hippopotamus means “river horse.”

So sicko on a hippo works, albeit only in slant rhyme.

Whenever I get through two options with this, I say, “Okay, you pick. I don’t really want to play this game. If you don’t want to pick I’ll make one of the first offers.”

Vaping is not healthier too.

Vaping is absolutely healthier than smoking. It’s not healthier than “neither smoking nor vaping.” But it’s so much closer to “neither smoking nor vaping” on the health scale than “smoking” that it’s absurd to say it isn’t healthier.

That’s fair. If you have even the slightest appreciation for aviation, I really do recommend Mentour Pilot. His video recently about the LionAir 737-MAX8 crash was phenomenal, and a perfect example. Extremely clickbait-y title and thumbnail, but a rock-solid hour-long dive into the final report, including details of the preceding flights.

One of the greatest channels on YouTube, in terms of quality content, is Mentour Pilot (and his other channel, Mentour Now). He releases videos weekly, I think. They’re remarkably high production value, well-researched, well-written, informative, and fascinating.

His thumbnails and many of his titles are awful. Clickbait, capitalization, arrows pointing at stuff, etc.

There are of course people who do the clickbait stuff and make terrible content.

There are people who don’t do the clickbait stuff, some of whom make good content and some who make terrible content.

Whether you try to get as much value from the platform as you can doesn’t indicate the quality of your work. Some people play the game, some don’t.
