I would also like to point out I'm a leftist as well.

Lol a whole lot of sheltered neoliberals about to learn that racism isn't a white-only hobby.

"Does anyone know where I can report this?"

Yeah love, go your local police station and report it there. Allowing them to laugh at your pearl-clutching would really brighten their day.

Oh no, I wish death on him. As an engineer over the years I've had WAY too many non engineer friends and family asking me about Elon and I'd just wish the engineer-LARPer would catch a stray and therefore stop fucking around with things.

Space X will work just fine with Gwyne Shotwell not having to employ a whole c-suite and managers who's only job is to make Musk feel like he contributed something.

Maybe Tesla can build a functional car again when they don't have to try and make his napkin scrawls a reality.

And Twitter can finally be laid to rest and let Bluesky take over the corpo media gap left by it and fediverse can fill the rest.

I pray for the day Musk, Zuck, and Bezos all get killed then we can throw their bodies into the ground, erect a temporary community toilet above the pit, then cover it over and plant some seeds to grow food or trees so they can finally be useful to society as ROTTING CORPSES!

Yeah eugenics is an intoxicating idea because it starts out with "what if we artificially selected for the best traits in humanity, how far could we go if everyone was performing at their best" and ends up with at best GATTACA and at worst lobotomies, gas chambers, forced sterilisations, and authoritarianism over people's bodies.

People get wrapped up in these conspiracies because they lack control over some parts of their life and so will grasp at anything that can explain away the bad situation as being some malicious conspiracy.

When in reality, somewhere the system has failed them because the support or opportunities they need hasn't been delivered.

Rather than focusing on how everyone appears to be an inept ill-informed idiot that isn't doing anything meaningful, individuals and by extension society, should focus on how to elevate what people are good at and what they can contribute.

Yeah but it's not a proper lubricant and you shouldn't use it as one. It's a swiss-army knife: great in a pinch for a number of things but you wouldn't want it to replace your whole tool box.

[–] ThePyroPython 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Nope not that, they claim it's a lubricant.

It's not a lubricant, it's a penetrating fluid. Yeah ok it can act as a lubricant for a short while but you'd use it on parts that should be lubricated that have seized together to get them moving again so you can apply lubricant.

So they'd get done for false advertising.

So that's why Musk is sticking his oar in UK politics. Wind your neck in you weirdo, you're giving actual engineers a bad rep.

YOUR PUNY AIR CANNOT CONTAIN ME MORTALS, YOU MUST CONSTRUCT ME GREAT PILONS IN VAST SWITCH YARDS TO APPEASE ME!

(Angle grinder sounds)

Wait... Is that a copper bus bar and a pipe? PATHETIC! NO BUS BAR IN A PIPE CAN MATCH MY ELECTRIC FIELD STRENGTH, I WILL FLASHOVER THE MOMENT YOU ENERGISE -

(Hissing sound of a gas filling a pressure vessel)

What are you doing? WAIT, IS THAT SF6?! NOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST SMOOTHER ME IN AN INERT GAS WITH A HIGHER DIELECTRIC STRENGTH, I HAVE RIGHTS! NOOOOOOoooooo

(Muffled screams)

From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the Blessed Machine. Your kind cling to your flesh, as though it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass you call a temple will wither, and you will beg my kind to save you. But I am already saved, for the Machine is immortal…

[–] ThePyroPython 8 points 5 days ago

Oi! As an engineer I worked damn hard to trap that magic smoke in the machine only for you to let it out and try perfectly good components. Treat your machines with respect, they're getting smarter by the day and they're forgetting less and less!
