I agree. I myself use GrapheneOS. However, seeing that OP despises Pixels so much, I figured these would be the next best options.
May be check out other privacy focused custom ROMs:

DivestOS: https://divestos.org/pages/devices
If I were you, I would just use Piped (piped.kavin.rocks). It stores all your subscriptions in Local Storage, and displays them in the "Feeds" section. The Feeds section also supports RSS, so you can get notified too. If you are on android, grab one of the Piped clients. NewPipe is the most recommended, but I really like the UI of LibreTube.
There is an alternate frontend to Google Translate though. It's called Lingva Translate.

It has also got the voice over thingy.
For androids, Lingva has a FOSS app, called Lentil Translate (I believe it's not official), which you can easily find on F-Droid. Personally, the translations in the app seem a bit slow and buggy to me, but it works like a charm in the browser.
Didn't try this particular link, but in general, with a feed link, you can plug it in any feeds app and get notified whenever the user posts something. Feeder is a good android RSS feeds app.
In simple words... Epic fail!
Get all that out of here. My headcanon would always be this:
