What would you say are the top 3 prime ministers, mine would be :

1. Clement Attlee - This is the guy who got the NHS founded and started up, this shit would NEVER happen under a tory led government.

I thank him for making the public health service as in my experience it had made my life easier in acquiring hearing aids more easily than private funded ones.

2. Winston Churchill - For getting us through the war years with keeping our morale up as the Nazi menace goose stepped across Europe and tried to take us over.

Now I am aware that Churchill has some flaws of his own, bit of that 40s racism and the bengal famine, but as a Briton there's a reason why he's still celebrated as a hero akin to the U.S's FDR or Charles De Gaulle of France.

3. Gordon Brown - So Gordon Brown has the personality of a bowl of a dull bran flakes, but I think personally had some good economic candour and few scandals (At least from what I've seen).

The gentleman might have not been quirky or villainous or most modern PMs but he certainly showed to be somewhat effective steering the nation.

If there's one thing that rustles my jimmies is that new games will sometimes put on an always online experience even when it is single player.

Why the hell do firms do this? What, to make you purchase a copy of the sequel of that game? They surely realise that putting a single player game or any game in general on life support through live services is stupid and makes their public optics look like shit to the consumer.

I bought your game, do not expect me to pay up extra or care about your baked in battle pass crap nor the sale your putting out for that gold skin costume.

The moment Bethesda were selling HORSE ARMOR in a single player RPG (Oblivion) it was all over from the start..

TLDR - Modern AAA sucks ass with only a few gems between.

Is there such a thing as there being degrees (Which are useful and can be applied to a decent selection of vacancies) and:

"degrees" (Which might sound fancy but aren't useful in a lot of vacancies, could also be just to say you got a degree)

I get that Lemmy might have the same stereotype in Reddit that there are loads of atheists, but there's a good reason why despite criticism of religion, it is still here.

This is a follow up thread as I saw some posts regarding games being used on Linux such as ports from Loki.

Was it a rarity to get say, DOOM on a Linux compatible disk? Surely the floppy disk version would've worked as normal no?

There was also DosEmu which seems like an ancestor to DOSBOX to play all your face dos games in a redhat or Slackware box.

I understand that getting things to work in order was a mess, but was it that difficult to find a Linux compatible game CD or floppy disk? Was there some form of piracy to acquire a converted windows copy on a BBS?

TLDR : I just wanna know if 90s linux gaming there for you guys since firms like Loki existed, hell there was a port of Quake on the funni penguin OS.

Grabbed me a copy of Frank's best seller and held off reading it. So far I'm really impressed with the lore and characters.

I have not seen the new films though I'm told by friends they are quite good.

For those veteran linux people, what was it like back in 90s? I did see and hear of Unix systems being available for use but I did not see much apart from old versions of Debian in use.

Were they prominent in education like universities? Was it mainly a hobbyist thing at the time compared to the business needs of 98, 95 and classic mac?

I ask this because I found out that some PC games I owned were apparently also on Linux even in CD format from a firm named Loki.

What is your choice of hot drink between the two? A cup of tea or a cup of coffee?

I used to be big on drinking tea including herbals which was relaxing while reading a book or looking up about subjects in the I.T field for me.

But coffee? I drink it in the morning ready for my day and work search, keeps me upright that caffeine stuff but I don't drink more than 2 cups due to caffeine contents.

I used to drink quite a lot of it in the workplace (Deadlines and projects tend to make you do that)

So it's no secret that some parts of the army in the USA and my country (UK) sometimes use legacy software like DOS for niche roles as they're robust including older versions of Windows.

But.. where does Linux fit in this? It's a kernel OS that's used in top of the line supercomputers, workstations, medical equipment and weather stations.

I imagine some aspects of this would be military secrets but how do they use it? I know that Linux was used for certain space projects with NASA but I'm talking about army applications.

I've tried using my incredible (british) brain using Google to see if these open source titans ever engaged in a battle of "friendly conversation" with one another.

I was always interested what Stallman thought of the angry but smart finnish man who gave us the robust penguin kernel that breathes life into older machines and powers supercomputers for the weather.

The same with Torvalds thoughts on Stallmans GNU involvement and him as a person.

This is because you sometimes had different organisations in the FOSS and OSS community that take on different meanings so I wanted a better idea if these chaps ever spoke in an interview together.

I understand that the jokes in it can rub a lot of people the wrong way especially when they make fun of religious groups, race and current day first world problems.

Personally I've enjoyed the show ever since I watched earlier seasons on DVD years ago. I just find the humor and some of the moments give you that shock kind of laughter "They really put that in there??"
