Shorten to "Frendi", probably would be enough to get app discussed and shared more.

Two things are true:

  1. He did a lot and still should have done more - still ends up as probably the most progressive president to hold the office. More of a criticism of this country.

  2. All of you claiming "too little too late" don't think on the scale of history. Those things have never been said by that leader's voice, In that leader's office, broadcast on primetime TV to everyone, everywhere.

This is how progress works. Again, would have been better for him to say it from the start, but would have been fuel for the right (who doesn't even really need credible fuel for the people they talk to) even more obstructionist, bad faith ghouls.

All the above considered, we were fucked as soon as election result came in. Democracy is over, if there was s cashed they wouldn't try to literally draw and quarter Biden on the national mall in the next four years, this likely solidified it. Don't think him saying those words are said without personal risk. I think he failed to live up to the full mandate of his election, but this is an old mmm an whip knows he's about to die saying fuck it and pulling the pin on the grenade knowing he won't outrun the blast. In his reality, that's what this decision was.

They are building a playroom for trump and a tunnel between that and 9gal so they can swap, elon will "work" in the Oval - meaning he'll just stand in there and "floss" all day like the fucking loser he's repeatedly shown himself to be

Your point, like many similar, misses the fact that idiocracy is MANY cycles in before they attempt to right the ship. There is an entire population of adults in there that seemed to have been born into the already broken world and developed wholly inside of it (and probably several generations). Not a lot of "Back in my day" in that world, because back in "that day" everyone was still a fucking moron in a broken world.

500 years covered in the link below alone. Settle in, we're just getting started. Unfortunately we'll never live to see the movie, "Ass" or to see it win those 8 Oscars.

The last line of, "We need to get revenge on the nerds" is her embodying the exact same cringe she talks about.

Many valid points within to be sure, but elon and zuckerberg aren't "nerds" they are preppy nepo baby wannabe "cool guy" fucks. She's tone deaf to not even see that the backlash from actual gamers against elon that she mentions is the point - those are the actual nerds. The ones who scoff at the obviously amateurish way elon tries to use maps in his live stream. That's a nerd, a nerd is actually competent/proficient at something. elon and mark's parents did horrible things with their own lives to gather the wealth that then allowed elon and mark to have "jobs" as professional "decision makers" for circles of sycophants - people that just that bring them yes or no questions through fancy PowerPoint presentations built to entertain them during fancy lunches - they don't actually do anything well.

Nerds are fine. They have their focus in life and they live that without regret or apology. These fucks aren't nerds. They are uncomfortable in their skin, they lack real value or meaningful relationships and they ooze that defeat and desperation.

Again, worthwhile premise, but this writer fucking sucks. She lousy sounds like the superficial idiot in the 80's movie who hates anything outside of her personal taste. She's opportunistically just using this moment to express that existing prejudice. But again, with full clarity, the headline is correct, she just falls on her face at the dismount.

That's not what they said, but now that you mention it, both concern the regular transfer of information. USPS should be a utility broadband provider.

You were referencing Costco. Cite examples of alleged Costco sweatshops please.

And since you're introducing the Apple example, cite that specifically please. Interested to learn more of India and Apple

Explain what you mean

A dolphin is neither a horse nor a boat.

A boat is neither a horse nor a dolphin.

A horse is neither a dolphin nor a boat.

But what is the one common thing that would happen if you were to bite any of these three things?

Hell strip overhaul from rocky weeds to... Something with intention.

Also, to get over my fear of ordering a bulk delivery of mulch instead of wasting time and extra money, getting inferior product by the bag, from the big box hardware stores.

Get some good squish growing

You kids and your new slang terms

Remember remember!

The 4th of December

A CEO dies all alone;

On the street he was lain,

cold, pale and in pain,

thousands of deaths that he own.

The decisions he'd struck,

Layers removed from the slaughter,

Were a shareholder's treat,

Your dead mother or daughter.

Those investors all wait, on that cold winter morn,

Still unawares of profit potential they'd mourn,

Poking at hotel breakfast, bored looks on their face

As was Brian's when he denied and delayed at great pace

Endless growth, deposed, on behalf of us all

Luigi didn't do it, we were hiking in Nepal.

I don't care if Monday's filing cases without evidence to clog the courts

Tuesday's prematurely declaring victory and Wednesday accusing fraud because vote count went overnight due to unsupported and disproven gop challenges of voting machines

Thursday, trucks with ski masked neo-nazis pulling up to the Capitol with assault rifles

It's Friday, I'm in a camp for suspected Marxist socialist antifahs!

Monday, barricades at politician's homes can fall apart

Tuesday, Wednesday, break my elderly neighbor's hip when cops break the door down at the wrong home and tackle her for being a suspected "illegal"

Oh, Thursday doesn't even start because musk/trump dept of efficiency has outlawed clocks and calendars so there can be no more legal labor challenges of unpaid overtime, no weekends and no holiday pay

It's Friday, I'm in only the second week of trump's second, never-ending term as America's dictator clumsily toppling 250+ years of democracy

You know you can do the right thing here. Go register, go vote. (Start here) - It's fast, simple and painless. You know we have to tell ourselves the above could never happen here to feel safe, but you also know it's closer to reality then ever before and you can do something, right now.

You willingly give them key points of information about yourself, directly or indirectly. They then read those signals and use your own information against you to convince you they have answers. And they are often wrong, but you walk around repeating their "insights" as if they are true.

I heard a person call into a show the other day, voice only, and talk about some poor working conditions at a factory. Made me think about how it would probably be so easy for nefarious bosses to be able to identify that person through voice recognition SW with all of the data that comes from us looking directly into cameras and speaking clearly in modern workplace meetings.

Do "anonymous" callers need to start using voice modulation software for these kinds of calls in the modern world?

As a little background, I didn't actively use Reddit for months following the blackout. I still barely stop in over there and if I do I'm never logged in our contributing to the communities there (where I was previously a daily poster/commenter).

Just bringing up a point that I'm not sure I'd seen anyone discussing directly over here; the general sentiment and quality of posted information on Reddit has become tangibly worse in multiple ways (I think coinciding with this group, us, leaving).

Now don't get me wrong, Reddit sucked in many ways and for long before the migrations to Lemmy, but there is a noticeable difference in a few key areas:

  1. Less skepticism in replies

  2. Less sourcing of information in posts and replies

  3. Less counter positions expressed generally

  4. If there is a decent reply, you have to scroll much further down to find it

  5. Less plain labeling of obvious bullshit

Many of us used to introduce counter viewpoints or clarifying information into posts, with sources. That functionally worked as a roadblock to stall the quickly building momentum of disinformation/misinformation. Those roadblocks often feel absent over there now, IMO.

Not saying we hold a responsibility to go back there or that we were saving lives before, but the difference is very apparent to me - Have you seen it? Any examples?

This was on the roku app on a TV, haven't explored other platforms yet.

I'm assuming this is to disable the ability for users to quickly start, back/exit and restart a video until an ad doesn't play. Eternally user hostile, enshitification bullshit.
