It's all about attention. They wanted their photos taken. Luigi made history, while children getting massacred is just another day in the USA.

I can only share my story and hope it's inspiring.

TRIGGER WARNING: ABUSE AND RAPE

My ex husband was abusive early on, but it got so much worse when I lost the ability to work... I was t-boned in 2014 and, when my joints, which had dislocated in the crash, refused to stay in their sockets; I got diagnosed with an illness that will degrade my body until my ligaments and heart fail. Once I became a "burden" my ex got violent, physically, sexually, and emotionally. I was lost, broken, worthless.

After one of his outbursts of screaming at and degrading me, I sat on the bed in our room, holding his gun, crying. He walked by, looked in the door, saw what I was doing, and shut the door. I felt dead inside already... couldn't work, couldn't "put out like a wife is supposed to", didn't have enough money to escape, and he's high ranking military, so his superiors didn't believe me. I grabbed the gun, held it close to my face and at that moment, my service dog, Avalanche, learned how to open the door.

He is for my seizures, and has never been taught how to twist a doorknob (trained on base), but he opened the door and FWOMPED on me. I bawled and realized I couldn't leave him. My ex had hit Avalanche, before, and my poor dog would never understand why his mom was gone.

I chose to stay, for my dog. The next day, a person reached out to me on Facebook asking if I was OK, because my post "looked like a cry for help". This is a person that I'd met, months earlier, because of Avalanche. Service dogs aren't allowed to be touched. They're trained to ignore people and he's VERY well trained; but this guy, Av approached and rolled over to ask for belly rubs from. I'd never seen anything like it!

Fast forward to today. I escaped my ex, a judge found me legally disabled (so, I'm on Medicare and not scared about medical bills anymore), my retired service dog is gonna be 11 in a few weeks and I spoil him, I've been happily married for 5 years, AND (despite my cardiologist telling me in 2015 that I'd likely be gone in 5-10 years) I'm still here! My seizures dropped from up to 14 a day, to maybe once a year! I sometimes still need a wheelchair, have a psychiatric service dog for the PTSD from the abuse and rape, but I'm here! Life is so much better. I feel like I'm proof that one's mental state impacts their physical state.

If Avalanche wouldn't have stopped me, I never would have learned that I DID deserve to be loved and respected, never would have become a disability advocate and helped others, never would be seeing my dog grow old (in a safe environment) and met my second service animal.

Yeah, life is tough. Finances are tight. I'm terrified of cuts to Social Security and Medicare. I'm scared that the next person in charge of the USA has said disabled people should "just die", but I found a reason to fight. Avalanche shifted my life in the best way possible. I recommend a lower maintenence pet for those with depression, though.

Thank you for the info! I've had the max number of vaccines, which I think is like 6. I actually feel significantly better than my friends and family who got long covid... Tachycardia is a bitch to live with

I'm immunocompromised and still have to mask up everywhere. Now that scientists know covid causes PERMANENT brain damage, some things going on in the USA make a lot more sense

He's not only hot; he's making an example out of cruel millionaires .. millionaires who prefer money and let people die, without ANY hesitation. So yeah, it's not like being attracted to Dahmer, it's more like being attracted to Katniss Everdeen.

I'm so glad I got sterilized right after the Roe v Wade leak. Screw being pregnant or even sexually active with such high stakes. Even with birth control AND Condoms, I was scared. If I change my mind, it looks like I'll have plenty of orphans to choose from...

I spent 37.5 hours (I document EVERYTHING) on hold with Wellcare trying to get them to pay for Narcolepsy medication I've been on since 2021... "Has the patient tried this ADHD medication, as an alternate?" "No. I prescribed my patient the only FDA approved medication, in the United States that treats Narcolepsy and Cataplexy, and she needs to stay on it". Luckily my doctor is wonderful.

It's draining, but I've learned that the trick is to tell each of the outsourced customer service reps that you have no problem staying on hold for however long it takes. I'm disabled and have that ability. My partner works from home, so I do the same for their Blue Cross. When the insurance companies realize you're willing to fill out ALL their paperwork, appeal higher and higher up, so that well-paid people get involved, clog their phone lines, and keep documenting every step of the way, they'll give you what you want... but it is a full time job. 😮‍💨

I go all out for Halloween. I've learned it's cheaper to buy Garage sale/thrift store stuff like this for creepy decorations, than it is to get stuff from Halloween stores or even the dollar store sometimes. I have the coolest "potion" bottles made of old decanters. The massive influx of stuff that came into thrift stores after covid started, was awesome, in the most morbid way.

What is on said tech. 10 years ago was only 2014. I miss when my ad blocker worked, when I could access news without paying, I miss when tech was stronger... though I'm glad my phone is waterproof though... I keep my phone in my bra and have destroyed like 4 from water damage 😅

Tech is better, but content is worse. I have a smart TV from 2014 that I'm gonna use until it's dead. When a new technology comes out, it's all about gaining market trust, so the product is built to last and has cool features (generally) without the ads and data theft. My TV doesn't play ads, but still has all the tech I need. Anything it can't do, my PS4 can.

I worked at one of the most high end restaurants in my city for a few years. It felt wonderful when someone stacked plates, because the majority of customers expected every little thing to be removed as soon as they finished. I always stack my dishes now, and put all the garbage on the top plate (never in a cup, cause the ice gets dumped in a different place)

Oooh! This is the 10th deadliest bridge disaster that we know of! I've been obsessed with disasters since I was a little girl, and it's gross how some of the top 10 were caused by corporate greed...

Don't even get me started on deadliest factory incidents or mining disasters. I could go on forever.

When I got her, she was so small that I had to cut a sock for her to wear as a sweater because nothing fit. She's an Aussalier; half mini Australian Shepherd and half King Charles Cavalier; and the most loving dog.

So excited to share my Lady Maria from Bloodborne! I even got to shoot it at an 1800s victorian mansion! Everything is handmade or highly modded. I 3D printed the Rakuyo myself and it does transform like in the game! I'm so happy with how it turned out!

I'm ShelbyEileenCosplay and happy to answer any questions you might have! There's a spicy version of this too.

I'm a cosplayer, so I make costumes for my service dog too!

I’m ShelbyEileenCosplay and am really excited to see that textile arts are included in this instance! I’ve been sewing for 12 years and armor crafting for 10, and competing in cosplay contests for 10. It’s the most challenging and fulfilling hobby I’ve ever tried and I love it so much.
