None of this drek addresses why we want to expand mass transit & tele-work: the planet emphatically cannot handle unloading millions of years of sequestered carbon over a few hundred years.

Decentralization is a good thing, or bad, it really depends on the ultimate goal. Do you have to drive? Go ahead. If there's a train or weather's nice & you can ride an ebike right to your job, why not build that mode out too?

Induced demand is real, once a new path is built for travel, people will use it and over time evaluate it's ease of use. Even trains suffer from it.
