I sirt it manually. I just rip a CD, edit its metadata with MusicBrainz Picard then place all the MP3's in a folder for just the book and then move it to the folder of the author.
Once scanned by audiobookshelf I modify the metadata a bit more and then let audiobookshelf combine the book to one file.

I use the integrated /e/OS backup which is actually Seedvault which runs great :). But you need a service to store you backups, WebDAV, SMB or etc. Neo Backup (which I have used for many years on Lineage OS) seems to be able to make backups to a SD card.
/e/OS it is degoogled but most of the "Google" applications have been replacedby great opensource alternatives or adapted. The app store still allows us to install apps from the playstore but anonymously.
I use duplicacy to backup to my local NAS and to Storj.io. In case of a fire I'm always able to restore my files. Storj.io is cheap, easy to access from any location and your files are stored and duplicated on multiple different locations.
I have used duplicity before but restoring from a new installation takes a while, as duplicity has to reanalyze the storage.
