So they've failed at pushing full return to office and now they're commissioning unscientific studies to try to make hybrid seem necessary?

These results really can't be applied to all jobs. Some jobs obviously require in-person but many white collar jobs can be done entirely remotely saving workers time, money and freeing up infrastructure for those that need/want to go in. Not to mention other benefits to mental health and reduction of emissions involved in commuting.

Oh yeah agree, he has the reverse Midas touch at the mo. Might add it coincided with the media flipping sides when they saw it was a foregone conclusion.

One of the admittedly minor things I dislike about his tetchy interview answers is when he starts going "blah blah blah...that's why we've done things such as..." and then proceeds to list the one and only example of said thing.

I have somewhat of a pet extension to projection theory... Many people who are anti-gay think that it is a choice as they themselves have made that choice. ie. They are repressed bisexual/gay.

Completely unsubstantiated with no evidence but I find it fun to think about as it would explain their complete misunderstanding of it not being a choice. "I made the tough choice and am living with it, why can't they?!"

Completely agree, requirements are key and often badly defined due to the customers' lack of knowledge of the intricacies of the system. You are correct to ask for clarity or it could come back to bite you later on.

I've just had a spec through from a BA which consists entirely of screenshots of an existing system with no technical definitition of any of the requested fields so relate to this right now.

We are just recovering from a similar situation here but the Overton window has shifted so far the supposed left-wing workers' party now look like centre-right conservatives.

Right on cue, the descent into fascism begins ahead of the impending climate disasters.

It's so depressing to see France like this, I always held it up as a prominent antifa nation.

Not substantially, it had a different title and was toned down.

I withdraw the word essay and apologise for any rudeness.

Have a good one.

My original message was "Wow ok chill." then elaborated to clarify.

Where I'm from people are way ruder than anything I said here so perhaps I misjudged the room. However, calling it out seems to have had the desired response as since posting OP went and apologised for his anger.

I in turn apologise for my rudeness to them.

Cavity protection ain't gonna cut it where they're going.

Did you read it before the edits? If it's written like that I think I'm entitled to exaggerate back slightly to make a point by calling it a rage essay.

Anywho I wouldn't choose to rant like this to my coworkers or online. A quick 🤦 in chat usually does the trick.

I've bounced between Lemmy apps and have found Connect to be the best so far. I particularly like the swipe actions as they free up screen space for content.

However I cannot find a way to downvote via swiping. Is the feature not available at present or is it hidden away somewhere in the settings?

This factors in some feedback loops which most sudies to date have ignored. Note, that it excludes extra warming caused by all the additional water vapour in the air.

For context, studies suggest that the largest extinction event in Earth's history (so far), the Late Permian Extinction Event, saw temperature rises of around 8°C.

The game is currently updating (earlier than usual I believe) and Man Utd official website accidently leaked the week of 3rd July.

The website does not typically go live on a Monday so my guess would be prices being dripped out on Twitter towards the end of this working week with the game launching Tuesday 4th July. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it was around 2pm on a Tuesday last year.

Check your emails, seems like they might be looking for feedback as to what new features to implement for future seasons.

I thought it would be good to get a pre-season price prediction thread going ahead of the 2023/2024 season.

I will attempt to list all teams and players. Please upvote prices that you think are sensible. If the price doesn't already exist, submit a comment in response to the the player's name with your predicted value.

If it gets traction, this post could serve as an early indicator for potential bargains once the official price list is announced.

The Starfield preview got me hyped enough to finally cash in a big chunk of my points that I've been accumulating since the Series X was released.

If anyone doesn't use Microsoft Rewards I strongly recommend signing up. It doesn't take much effort to build them up.

They are slowly nerfing the program so might as well take advantage while it lasts.

NoScript Add-on (addons.mozilla.org)

NoScript add-on is great for disabling any scripts running on a page. The user can view the domains the scripts are running from and enable them individually.

At first it breaks every web page you visit but after a little time white-listing everything runs fine and it makes for much cleaner browsing.
