I feel like too many of the people here really do need to touch grass. Idk if it's the high number of people in tech work or something else but I see so many takes of what "normal" people that's so far off the mark it makes me question when was the last time they spoke to an actual person.

Disagree, I don't think having a favorite is dish dependent. You probably have a favorite pasta dish and your preferred noodle for it. Probably your favorite shape.

It's not about what dish you're making. It's what's your favorite. What's the dish you prefer to make with it? Pick a favorite, it's not a crime.

Fucking Greg Abbott of all people...

If they just put the name I would have no idea who they are. Writing the full name plus ",an anti-Trump podcast" would be a really long title with extra info they get in the first sentence.

Wanting to stop at the headline is a bad habit. Just click the article and complain if the name isn't right there.

Huh interesting to note.

Rather than receiving a customer’s donation as income, the company serves as a holding agent for that money...

This seems to be where they cheat shit.

You're really going to have to clarify on "this". I really am not trying to be obtuse but as far as I see, Americans aren't going on vacation in Europe to protest abortion or making speeches in support of right wing populists. It's govt officials doing that. American tourists are friendly on average.

Or they go right over their head because Trump respects nothing of procedure that doesn't benefit him, they slow down nothing, and now they're also complicit

Everyone complaining about this and calling them a coward: Trump and his crimes won't respect the law now, what makes you think this bureaucrat can obstruct anything? Trump will absolutely go over the heads of anyone refusing his orders.

Better to resign and not be complicit than sit by and let your name be anywhere near this shit.

Okay, but then what one word adjective, or even 2, would you use? Increasing may be a little bland but it's acurate. Do you want them to outline everything DOGE has done?

I'm surprised how often people seem to miss that point that Johnny lost the moment he took the bet.

JD Vance isn't part of the government? Nothing in this article is a civilian doing anything, unless you mean more than this article with "this shit" at which point I'm lost and you'll need to expand your point for me.

I seriously cannot have any degree of nuanced conversation here.

Like I get it, we all know capitalism is bad, but it feels like every time I or anyone go towards discussing the steps that need to be taken to address current looming problems in the short term, someone has to jump in and shut it down with "capitalism bad >:[ " and tear down any idea presented because its not complete and total destruction of the current economic model.

The result just feels like an echo chamber where no actual solutions get presented other than someone posting whole ass dissertations on their 33-step (where 30/33 steps are about as vague as "we'll just handle it") plan to fully convert the world to an anarchist commune.

Edit: I still vastly prefer Lemmy and the fediverse and a whole, my complaint here is that many of you are TOO INTENSE. You blow up small scale discussion.
