If we are doing this, shouldn't we go straight to Kelvin? So we no longer have to deal with negative temperatures

As someone younger, I completely agree with you.

I was only talking about captcha's for account creation. To just log in they would indeed be to much of a hassle.

See the comment from Yote.zip and replies to that comment. For me it is fixed by installing v0.0.35 from github.

Thanks that was indeed the issue. v0.0.35 seems not to be available at fdroid yet. But I installed it from github and now the app is working fine again.

I recently updated jerboa to v0.0.34 (was on v0.0.33 before) but it crashes every time I launch the app. Tried going back to v0.0.33 but now also that version doesn't seem to work anymore. I enjoyed the last couple of weeks using the app and don't like to use lemmy through the browser on mobile. So if anyone knows what might be causing this or has any idea on how to fix it let me know

Completely agree, captcha's aren't gonna make it impossible to make bots, but it makes it more complicated. It will force bad actors to invest more time in it. Wich will turn some part of them away.

On a positive note, I think the fact that we see so many bot signups shows lemmy (the fediverse in general) is growing and matters, otherwise people wouldn't spend so much time and resources to make these bots. All big platforms have these kind of problems and need to learn how to deal with them.

Jerboa development is going faster than ever. The number of commits increased a lot and the project counts 10 times as much contributors as before (5 from start till a couple of weeks ago, now 53).

Thanks to the devs for putting in the hard work!

This is indeed not an ideal situation, but I guess on most instances this isn't possible. I agree instances should require a captcha of some sort for signing up.

I have no idea about minimum requirements to get off the ground, but lemmy.ml mods recently made this post: https://lemmy.ml/post/1234235 in wich they state they use a dedicated server with 6 cores/12 threads and 32 gb ram.
