Yeah it's a data broker broker. Totally legit.

I don't totally disagree with you, and I don't totally disagree with Tim's points here, but then we (gamers) see Epic pulling exclusivity agreement bullshit, which is annoying as hell to consumers. Isn't it possible that Valve's cut is actually worth it? It's the superior store from a consumer perspective, they have good customer service, easy refunds, helpful review scores, and a hundred other things. There are many, many reasons that Steam is on top.

I don't see indie devs telling people "buy my game on Epic instead of Steam because Epic takes a smaller cut". Many devs actually do say that when their game is on Itch.io, but I haven't seen many indie devs defending Epic here. The only ones going exclusive to Epic are the ones that Tim literally paid to do so.

Playing roms on a Switch means you're NOT emulating, that's the reason people jailbreak them. Plenty of Switch games run like crap on a Steam Deck, and the more demanding games are difficult to get running at all via emulation.

I'm not saying a jailbroken Switch is the best option, I'm just saying there are pros and cons. Honestly, I'd recommend OP get a cheap desktop PC with a budget GPU instead of a Steam Deck, unless they need it to be portable. It would perform better for emulation.

Ooooh you're right! Those fuckers

Wowwww that's especially insulting considering that everything from Humble used to be DRM-free. I have HUNDREDS of games in my Humble library from the golden years. But most of their stuff doesn't interest me nowadays.

Wow, Humble has really gone downhill after being acquired. Make sure you change the default split, they've made it harder to find! There's an "Adjust Donation" button where you can choose to put more of your money to charity, rather than Humble and the book publisher.

By default, they're only giving the EFF ninety cents of your $18 purchase. That's insulting. And they still have the gall to put up a "leaderboard" for people that paid extra, but probably only 5% of their money went to charity if they didn't think to change the split. What assholes.

This is suuuuuuuper common, most software makes you agree to some sort of arbitration clause. It doesn't mean that you can't sue them, it's just an obstacle to deter you.

They've had some security breaches, like most companies. If you're feeling paranoid, do some reading on nginx vulnerabilities.

Exposing your home servers to the Internet is always risky. There is no 100% safe way to do it.

Looks like it's not really designed to be self hosted yet. So, if you're self hosting, Immich is still probably the way.

but only for game servers

Why? I use tunnels for everything, all sorts of apps included. They're easy to set up, and reliable.

Tailscale is a good solution, though. I use that as well.

Okay. And until the government does something about it, a PHEV is an excellent choice.
