It gets really frustrating seeing the switch to a new generation result in reviewers trash anything last gen, or even complete genres that they believe to be last gen.
Shoot em ups come to mind as the 32-bit series started and then 2D fighters as we got to the Dreamcast era...
@[email protected] thatβs the one.
One of the issues was that it focused more on combat.
But overall, it just felt a bit off.
Still a really good game though. But yeah. Not the same.
I've tried to get into the sequel on several occasions, but somehow it feels like it misses that spark that made the original so incredible...
Then again, I wouldn't even know how to even start to attempt to replicate it.
I think I might have exactly what you're looking for. π

Abandonware-Magazines is an awesome site as well with tons of older magazines.
Only catch is that they focus on French magazines.
But if that's not an issue, it's a treasure trove.
I'm not very well versed in the micro scene myself as I never owned a C64 or Amiga or anything like that back in the day.
I started on arcade and pinball machines in the late 70's and throughout the 80's and then got into consoles with the NES and Master System.
So my knowledge of those kinds of things is super basic, and that's putting it mildly.
But you should be able to find a bunch here:

Sadly no.
That one went under my radar.
I do have the new Fatal Frame on PS5, but no console to play it on yet. π
