After a bunch of research and weighing options, I went with a Withings Scanwatch. The 30 day battery time is a nice bonus.

Awesome, it seems to work a lot better with Mlem on iOS as well now!

I don't disagree yea; it is a bit problematic. When I started this one, I couldn't find another one. I think this was the first Gamedev community, but perhaps the browse.feddit.de index was just incomplete at the time.

I kinda.. don't lol. But I work just 4 days a week and on 3 of those I start relatively late (10:30), so that helps a bit.

I have recently learned that this is called Delayed sleep phase syndrome (DSPS) and is very common in many people 'on the spectrum'. I think it's nonsense to call it a syndrome but that's modern society for you.

Anyway, I usually don't sleep before 4am, often even later. It's rough 😬

This is probably it. Also ArchiveTeam is archiving Reddit as a high priority target so lots of bots scraping it

became the chosen “subreddit of the year” in the “Best of reddit” user poll in 2008, and at one point, making “jailbait” the second most common search term for the site

According to Wikipedia 🙃

Fun fact: a block feature is required to be accepted by the Apple AppStore review process. So Twitter will disappear from Apple devices with this change.

I ended up still using Redact since I already had it set up, and it managed to overwrite and remove all my history without issue in one swoop :) Thanks anyways for the alternative, I'm sure it'll help someone else out!

That's fair to say. My source is someone who was indirectly involved with some of it, and an admin/moderator I trust of another privacy/security group. And like @[email protected] said, some of these things you can verify for yourself.

In cases like this it's often hard to find the truth, and there's always an amount of he said, she said; all I can say is that I personally trust these people, fwiw.

Feel free to link relevant communities here! When I think they're relevant enough I'll add them to this opening post.

Alternative game development communities:

Engines/frameworks:

Art and story:

Game- and industry news:

Modding, reverse engineering and preservation:

Game development jobs:

Things of note: The 2nd link in the list above is a relative link; as long as you're on a Lemmy-instance, it should link to the right community relative from your instance. If you get an error saying '404: couldnt_find_community', you will have to search for the community first. For example: [/search/q/[email protected]/type/Communities/sort/TopAll/listing_type/All/community_id/0/creator_id/0/page/1](/search/q/[email protected]/type/Communities/sort/TopAll/listing_type/All/community_id/0/creator_id/0/page/1). You will get no results, but visiting the linked community should now work. It can take a little bit of time, and posts might not instantly show up. If it still doesn't work, the linked instance might be blocked on your current Lemmy instance. I'd recommend asking your admins for support at that point.

Hi all,

I've decided to start a GameDev community as I didn't see any on this instance or others.

What's your relation with game development?

I'll start; I'm a hobby game developer at most, mainly having experience with MonoGame (based on XNA) but I switched to C# + SDL2 (using SDL2-CS). Currently writing my own semi-engineless game (I don't want to say that I'm building my own engine, but I do have some reusability for my own sake) while figuring out SDL2 and always looking for best practices.

I tried Unity, GoDot, Unreal Engine and more over the years, but as someone with a background in software development the freedom of the code-first approach always works better for me.

Welcome!
