The main benefits of private trackers are:

  • Download speed. Many users of these trackers will use seedboxes to build ratio. This generally results in a faster download speed for peers.

  • Security. Many (but not all) private trackers have strict entry barriers, such as invite only or application based signups. This keeps copyright trolls out of their swarms, which eliminates the need for a vpn or other method of masking your identity. Depending on where you live this can range from a nicety to a necessity.

  • Longevity. Torrents generally live longer on private trackers.

  • Community. Some private trackers have a forum or IRC channel where you can interact with other community members.

  • Availability. Many private trackers will have a wider range of releases of a single media.

  • Quality. You will generally find higer quality releases on private trackers. That's not to say that high quality releases don't make it to public trackers, some do and some don't.

  • Faster releases. Releases will typically come to private trackers first. Many torrents originate on these trackers or come from scene groups and trickle down.

If you're finding everything you want on public trackers then you probably aren't missing anything. You could test the waters on TL or something next time they open.

Signal removing SMS support was the latest for me too. I understand why they did it but it was really convenient to have it all in one place.

Another recent one that comes to mind was the removal of MagiskHide.

For ps3 you can check the Sony section of the r/roms megathread on GitHub. They recommend using NoPayStation, which I have never used personally. If you don't want to ddl you can also download torrents via the archive.org links (click "Go to parent directory" at the top of the list of files and then you'll see a download for the torrent file) and selectively download the games you want.

Switch roms can be found on torrent trackers. I usually get mine on TL. I just searched for "switch" and filtered by games on 1337 and they seem to have a lot there too.

Could you post a list of all the projects you have coded up for this and a description of their purpose? Is there a GitHub repo or somewhere we could check them out?

Are you looking to host these projects individually, or combined on one server/website?

Lastly, are you asking only for financial assistance, or do you need programmers to help build/maintain these projects too?

Apologies if I have missed something, but a little more information here would be nice.

I have build 3214677 change 4155897. I am unsure what specific version this is, but IIRC this was a 0-day release.

I'm a noob too but apt and flatpak are enough for me on Pop!_OS. I've added a couple repos here and there. I don't really see flatpaks as annoying, I prefer them as they generally make dependencies easier for me. They few pieces of niche software I have weren't that difficult to build/install.

I really wish you could power your phone from the charger if you are stationary. I play a number of games (OSRS, Mindusty, Endless Sky) that drain my battery so quickly. This leads to a significantly increased number of charging cycles that could be avoided if I could just set a toggle to power the phone from the cable rather than the battery.

I get where you're coming from but it makes sense to have equivalents for some of them. Like in this case, people are going to want a place to share and watch crazy/shocking videos.

TL's seeding requirements really aren't that bad. A lot of people don't realize you don't have to do that seeding 24/7 if you don't rent a seedbox or a have dedicated machine. If you want you can close your client while you use your computer and keep it running when, say, you're at work or asleep. Similarly if you want to turn your computer off overnight or something that's fine too. You'll just get a HnR warning that will clear once you open your client again.

Once you start to rank up your required seed time lowers. It bottoms out at just 4 days if you get to the TL-God user rank.
