Ha, sorry I meant IIRC that is a beach in the village of Ness at the butt of Lewis, but it's been over twenty years since I was last there.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/uG5trsb7bov8u6ZP7 I think that's the place?

Ness?
I have worn a Utilikilt survivalist daily for over ten years up in Maine, socially and at work, year round, rain, shine or sleet. I know they are expensive, especially for a bit of malicious compliance, but frankly they are worth it and a game changer. The survivalist In particular, so many pockets, so much room for everything. All the weight hangs off your hips so you barely feel it.
As for owning it, you just have to well, own it. I mean it's everyone else that is wrong right? But yeah, just the fact that you are considering it says you have enough confidence to pull it off.
I have tried other brands, none of them fit like the Utilikilt, but that was ordering online and trying to match sizes and such. Quality wise I had no issues with them but they didn't have all the storage and features of the Utilikilt so ultimately I sent them back. From a quick Google though, damn there are all sorts of them out there now, I don't recognize the brands but the pricing looks great.
Good luck if you do it!
Similar to others, used it with Jabber, ncurses based clients and such. It was pretty darn great back in the day. It made me believe that Google wanted to do the right thing, even if it screwed up now and then... Ah more fool me on that one to be sure.
Interestingly enough, when Slack still supported IRC that is how I used it, ncurses based IRC client in the console. Then that was put out to pasture as well.
Sadly the only time I see XMPP these days is in the background transport for Chrome Remote Desktop. It's still there, just not being used for "chat" messages.
