Eh, but how much of that is tourist visas. And where are they coming from.

I'm of the opinion that an open border with Mexico is an issue. Which just should not be controversial.

But I'm also married to someone who entered with a tourism visa. Legal immigration is nearly impossible in the US. There are very very few options for a person to enter the country and be on a path to a green card. Saying otherwise is purely ignorant.

If it challenges the narrative on Lemmy, it gets downvoted.

The flood of immigrants crossing the southern border has been deemed a non issue by the liberal hivemind, and any evidence or arguments to the contrary will not be tolerated.

He claims this legislation will give him the authority he needs to do something. Do you really believe the president of the United States doesn't have the authority to take action in securing our borders?

I'd like to see the text of this bill, because I don't believe the White House is incapable of taking action and actually needs additional powers.

I mean, all a politician has to do is say "I will oppose Bidens open border policy" and they'll win an election.

All Biden has to do is not allow an open border with Mexico, and he might have a chance of getting re-elected.

That's exactly how the Taliban talks. The highly cryptic methods used by this terror organization have been cracked.

I need to fly from NJ to California in a few months. Economy tickets are around $275. I'd like a bit of extra legroom for the long flight, so I check out Economy plus. Economy plus tickets are $800. What in the actual fuck is this? It's not first class. I get no added benefits other than a few inches of extra leg room.

Honestly, it extends beyond creative works.

OpenAI should not be held back from subscribing to a research publication, or buying college textbooks, etc. As long as the original works are not reproduced and the underlying concepts are applied, there are no intellectual property issues. You can't even say the commercial application of the text is the issue, because I can go to school and use my knowledge to start a company.

I understand that in some select scenarios, ChatGPT has been tricked into outputting training data. Seems to me they should focus on fixing that, as it would avoid IP issues moving forward.

I honestly work at a company that would fit most ideals for the average anti-work/work-reform subscriber.

Unlimited PTO, with minimum PTO usage requirements. Free medical. They pay for my gym membership. They pay for tampons for my household. Full time remote. I hold equity in the company. Annual performance bonuses. And they disclose the financials of just about everything to employees. It's pretty wild

The issue is simply reproduction of original works.

Plenty of people mimic the style of other artists. They do this by studying the style of the artist they intend to mimic. Why is it different when a machine does the same thing?

My time management is great. I do my job and the job of the person underneath me, because we can't find anyone worth a damn.
