Thank you for the information, other comments have pointed their need for mental stimulation and companionship. I intend to look into many options, and a fellow donkey mate is on the list of primary considerations. On the subject of donkeys, do you know if they are rather patient? Would they rather walk around or laze about (it depends on the donkey, I bet)? I am trying to picture their behavior, from the minimal amount of research I've done. I saw a YouTube video of them galloping and it was very entertaining. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hk0V07YNWxA

EDIT: Donkeys dont sound easy to keep by no stretch of the imagination, and I have alot of time to get acquainted with the volume of work it will take to keep one happy!

That is one gorgeous looking estate, feels so full of potential even during the harsher seasons.

Goats seem like neat animals as well. But I heard that they need to be always pregnant if I would want some milk, which seems a bit cruel. Also they do not live long, but I will consider it.

Did the donkeys get along with the chickens before their mood soured? I can't tell if this is a copy pasta also they have very fun names

No, after the house. I am sorry if i did not make it clear in the post. And its a long term plan, so getting the house would have to take the donkey into consideration as well if I manage to get there.

I plan on feeding it some meadow hay on some walking trips, I hope I won't have to feed any dragons at the end of them.

You are right about the lack of research. I do not plan to harm any donkey and am still assessing the proper amount of care that must be given to such an animal. Do you work with donkeys? Two seem like a better idea, and will demand considerably more investment of time to think over it.

I would take it while fishing tbh, and I would get a sitter for theses twice a year trips. This is a long term plan, so all info would be great. Do you have experience with donkeys?

Should I?

Recently I realized that I have only been reacting to life, and not setting some personal goals. I am very poor, however, could acquire in a few years some capital to invest into a proper home of my choosing. I am not really looking forward to the long years of work ahead of me, I will admit.

This is where the donkey comes in.

I have heard that these creatures lived almost human lifespans, and still being quite young, thought about acquiring such beast.

Does anyone have experience working with such animals? I only have experienced going on a trek with a couple of them, and they seemed to be a very personality distinct specie.

Would it be lonely without me? I am planning upon getting it when I manage to escape the city and acquire a river accessible abandoned property somewhere. It would max be left alone 3 days as a shopping trip or when gone fishing.

To me, they are amazing beings. Their faces are so expressive, and make hilarious sounds. They eat almost anything that nature provides around them. They bound to other animals and protect them all while still having a good time. I plan on making a foyer for it when it's raining, so it can chill by the fire.

Also do they actually perform farm labor, last one told me that it was a human myth.

The amount of time wasted on our attention spans because of ads... Sometimes I feel suffocated, it feels like an intruder trying to crack open my skull through repetition. It's so nice to be able to go on a website with no ads like lemmy! MY ADBLOCKER DOES NOTHING IT HAS NOT HAPPENED IN THE PAST 10 YEARS

In France it's pure greed. The government keeps trying to pawn off any public utility that doesn't generate revenue since that Jupiter wannabe took office. I don't know how politicians convinced billions of people that public utilities must be profitable...

yeah social media should be more functional and easily put away when not needed. I love the fact that I just don't get attention consuming notifications. I love the fact that there isn't an algorithm that promotes the most inflammatory point of view for "eNgAgEmEnT".

I just don't feel like a product here, it feels real compared to any platform.

Yeah I am currently using my steam deck as a main desktop drive, I was blown away at how good this operating system is. I can't go back. I just can't. The only thing that pisses me off is that I can't use adobe software, but hey my wallet is thanking me.

What really makes me happy, is no ads. No store, no xbox icon, no bloatware, no , no edge being like a jealous gf, no programs to install programs, no windows defender making me paranoid, no firewall, no forced graphics chosen for me by microsoft, no ten ways to do the same action...

Honestly I don't know why I didn't switch. I remember trying to get a computer without windows and my brother advising against it, I want to go back in time and slap him from depriving me from such a well conceived experience.

Hello Lemmy, hello Linux users!

I am trying to get into all this open source jazz and finding a way to give a second life to this god awful monitor/tv. It's from a company I've never heard of before called OCEANIC, and it has plastic borders that actually just obstruct the sides of the screen, which means it has a letterbox-ed view of everything one would do on a computer.

I would love to get a suggestion on how I could possibly solve this problem! Resolutions proposed in the settings don't work but maybe a custom one is needed?
