Cultures evolve like anything else. Even language is constantly evolving. Preserving cultures is for museums, not for a growing society. I worked in aerospace manufacturing for a long time. My company (big one) used only certain suppliers so if anything the suppliers are getting the cheap stuff to rip off those who buy for manufacturing. Who were bought from was strictly controlled but who watches the watchmen or metalmen?
