Yeah I'd love to have anything near 100Mbps. Currently get 12Mbps on a good day, usually around 6Mbps. This is after spending thousands of dollars to upgrade the connection last year. Australian internet is fucked.

I use an Odroid loaded up with CoreElec ( a version of Kodi ).
- It connects via HDMI
- can be controlled with a normal remote control via HDMI-CEC
- can connect 4 USB devices (including a USB hub)
- no need for a constant internet connection
- Tv and movie database info is downloaded once and stored, not retrieved as needed
- Has played every file format I've thrown at it
- Easy to use interface
- FOSS and no ads
I didn't play engi for the longest time for similar reasons. After I unlocked some module upgrades I tried the engi again. I consistently get the most kills in the team, unless there is another engi.
My build:
Voltaic: 2-3-1-2-1 with Well Oiled Machine overclock
40mm: 1-2-1-2-2 with Fat Boy
Turret: 1-1-2-2
They also can't just start working for the next county over if they get fired from their jobs and don't have the police union the US cops do. And since Australian police training is measured in years and not weeks, they have to actually worry about their employment here.
That great news! Something to look forward to.
When I finished Heavens River, I got a feeling of finality and didn't think there would be many, if any, more books. Was a bit disappointed the series ended with otter people. But I was surprised to hear there's another book on the way and hadn't thought about the series being longer than 3-4 books. If that is the plan, populating the story with other races as protagonist/antagonists would make sense.
I personally thought we would see a division and civil war among the Bobs as a result of meddling with the Quinlins and the Star Trek Prime Directive issues. From there I thought we would see the some of the other races the Bobs have helped get involved in the conflict and then finally GUPPI revealing itself as some sort of peacemaker.
This ^. Been saying for years that we need a dedicated, well funded disaster recovery agency/service, something like FEMA, that can deploy at a moments notice and have stockpiles of supplies ready to rollout.
WE’RE RICH!
I've noticed the periodic deluge of updates too. I imagine that lemmy is pulling updates at set intervals, causing this. Could be a bunch of reasons to do things this way but it's not ideal.
Mastodon has a good solution for this where the user can choose between continuous scrolling updates and manually updating the feed. Would be good to have a similar option here.
spamming this community with pictures of otters
That would be truly awful. So many interesting concepts to explore and they choose an otter 😐
