Wavebreak (live.staticflickr.com)

I had an idea while visiting Crescent Beach here in North Florida, so of course I found myself wading too far out into the ocean, holding my camera over my head and hopping over waves to keep it dry. Luckily there was a sandbar out there and some nice waves breaking on it. I liked the light and dark split coming from one wave and the reflections from an otherwise calm ocean.

Got to experience snow for the first time this past winter while staying on Lake Michigan. I wasn't prepared at all for trying to take photos out there, but the lake started freezing and I really enjoyed walking the shore (while I could stand it).

Staying out in the swamp for a few weeks and my poodle made a new friend! Now they go everywhere together and she just learned to swim in the lake. Could watch these two all day : )

Was out at the beach today and was able to wade pretty far out with my camera over my head (dumb - don't do this). I liked the light and dark halves of this breaking wave and the water was calm enough for some nice reflections.

Some of my favorite sunsets end up being in the other direction!

War Record (live.staticflickr.com)

Checked out the Castillo de San Marco and was struck by all of the bullet and cannon holes right there in the masonry. Looking at the photo afterwards sort of brought to mind some alien landscape from above. Liked the detail there!

Visiting St. Augustine and walked under this nice trellis. This little flower was hanging out below the rest of the growth - I liked it!

Seasonal Wonder (live.staticflickr.com)

There's nothing quite like a toddler experiencing lots of holiday lights! I liked the expression here but also how the lights caught in her eye and the strong colored contrast at night.

Sunset Lake (live.staticflickr.com)

I'm happy to finally be staying at a place with some options for a nice sunset view! I'm starting to experiment with HDR now that I have a tripod as well. I felt that really helped me bring out the details in the highlights while preserving the nice colors from the night side of things.

Still not sure on the best bracketing to try but I've been liking the look of 0.3 increments in groups of 9. I want to try that with some focus stacking as well at some point...but I think the clouds would have to be pretty still for that!

I engaged with it a bit at a local Lovesac store and it seemed cool, but you know how it is with all the noise in a mall. I used to be an audiophile and mellowed out, but that doesn't mean I want something that sucks! The marketing looks ridiculous, but some reviews I've found are praising the soundstage and it is hard to know what is a paid review these days.

The big draw here is that all of the speakers would be hidden. My wife frankly does not want to see them in our living area (especially any wires). I already have a whole Hue synced light setup to the TV so I figure I'll happily compromise there, hah.

Flamingo Flock (live.staticflickr.com)

There's something inherently sassy and amusing about flamingos for me...right down to that squawk. So of course I loved this guy looking at me while he walked away. More processing than I usually do but I really liked the look of the split tones here.
