That world view requires one to have a back story on every purchase they make and is placing value on a story rather than a direct experience. Nothing wrong with that for you, but that's not a generalizable practice. Ultimately people are more likely to use the app, compare it to many other apps, and decide whether paying 3-4 more times what most apps charge for ad freedom is worth it to them. In my opinion the current pricing is preying upon zealots early on and market forces will likely drive it down over time. In the meantime it's enough of a sticker-shock to leave a bad taste in many mouths.
A month from now you are going to look around and think to yourself, "damn, why did I buy so much of this sponsored content? I don't need this much sponsored content"
Do you guys remember that time u/Spez took the reddit API away from third party apps?
Huh. Not sure what it is about this beard style and superiority but this Pic and this discussion remind me of https://xkcd.com/743
Occasionally people are just smug and superior because they are right.
Many of us happily pay add removal fees on apps, but few of us pay $20. It stands out as excessive, especially in a very competitive arena like Lemmy apps where lots of good options have emerged.
You game to pay for both?
Even if you don't find it intrusive, it is. Ads are incredibly powerful, that's why they pay good money to get them in front of you through any means possible.
Dude, there are literally boxes that say "sponsored content" I find those annoying enough, but you don't think those are going to switch to ads soon? I've always wondered who bought those houses on the California cliffs that were definitely going to erode into the ocean at some point. I'm getting a better idea.
No bruh, there are Dozens of us!
All these shit posts are fun, but why is connect a red haired step child all the time? Any legit arguments against it? Has room for improvement, but it's the best I've found thus far.
