Very true. I have an example in my family: my father-in-law owns a lot of land. That land, not so long ago, belonged to some native tribes that were all killed to have said land stolen. My wife said that, when her father dies and she inherits the land/money, she's gonna donate most of it (maybe all, depending on our financial situation), because she doesn't want the blood money.
Every time I (proudly) tell this to someone, they look at me like I'm crazy.
The moment I start seeing Meta content here is the moment I leave. People are being very, VERY naive in thinking that the Fediverse is immune to corporate interest. Judging by the Mastodon response, we are already seeing that it's not.
We drive our cars and planes

Very true. At first I wanted everyone to leave Reddit, now I just want the nicer part of Reddit to leave and come here. I'd rather see less content with more positive interaction than a lot of content with a toxic community.

Being from a 3rd world country that lived under a dictatorship backed by the US in the 60s, I always found difficult to find international, english speaking socialist communities that saw the "US problem" and imperialism in the same light, because the internet is mostly american.
Yes, we can't blame the US for EVERY problem that happened under authoritarian socialist experiences, but holy shit, a lot of problems were and still are the US fault. And on more "mainstream" socialist comunities, people tend to have way more resistance in accepting this.
