From what I understand of internet use as a whole, there’s no way to convince someone to change their browsing habits directly. Most don’t care enough. If you tell them about something you’ve done or found on here, they might become interested and browse. It’s an open platform for lurkers, so share a link or two when appropriate. If they ask why you prefer it, tell them in a way that would be meaningful to them, but never do it unprompted. Don’t get your hopes up, but some might join.

I like never reading “should of”, as well. Every browser and phone’s autocorrect aggressively suggests a correction to “have.” Sometimes you don’t notice an apostrophe appearing in the middle of a word, so I can forgive “it’s,” but there’s little excuse for fighting with autocorrect to write “should of.”

In case you’re actually curious, a bizarrely large amount. Around 4 years ago, the admins ceased banning spammers that created their own private spam subreddits, which allowed spam to proliferate and additionally made the site metrics go crazy. Spam in subreddits no one visits amounts to about 40 percent of all (posts or comments, can’t remember which) on the website. The admins delisted those subreddits from the ‘go to random subreddit’ button, so they’re acutely aware of them. If you’d like to learn more, ask some former admins.

2 hour wait>20 minute wait. Unless the owner gets upset, the kids stay.

Generally, that’s how they transition; they get therapy and consult medical professionals to see whether it’s dysphoria or another issue. It isn’t taken lightly by anyone involved, and the dysphoria generally improves on treatment, as do their associated syndromes. They’re unwell, so they seek out the best treatment we currently have for the illness they’re diagnosed with.

The human brain is still far from being understood well enough to affect the incredibly complex feeling of dysphoria in the way you’re seeking. To compare medications and therapy to the tools of a carpenter, we currently have hammers and nails, and some crude saws. We’re on the cusp of creating chisels, and decades from grinders. Treating dysphoria would require a router, which is a decade past that. There aren’t any other solutions for this rare, often fatal, condition.

If you’re interested in helping those unfortunate enough to have it, and aren’t interested in standing back for medical professionals to do their thing, working in medical research to expedite the creation of other treatment options would be your best bet.

TLDR: you’ve overestimated current medical and psychological science to be able to have said any of this, but may be able to create your vision of a cure within your lifetime.

I might sound a bit elitist, but the sort of people who would join Threads would lead to step 0 of the enblandening of the entire fediverse. Not to mention increased bot spam. I say this as someone who is likely enblandening the fediverse.

Paper towels or constant air flow over a few minutes. Usually paper towels.

Thank you, their financials seem not to be a big concern for now. I imagine the administrators will begin posting their patreon more frequently in this instance if costs become cumbersome in the long-term. I’m not certain whether they’re dipping into their relatively sizable savings from mastodon or whether they’re keeping funding separate, but they’re not in immediate danger, nonetheless.

Any chance you could say where you found their financials? I’ve been fruitlessly searching for them for the last week.

They closed up in order to avoid mistakenly accepting bigots into the fold. Nothing wrong with leaving a safe space to its own devices, as long as it isn’t bothering anyone else.

Depending on how much the admin hosting this instance pays for it, I’d disagree. This is the largest instance by a fair margin so hosting costs* may not be a negligible expense anymore.

Contextually, probably something about leaving the state for an abortion or not having sex unless you can afford the entirely government imposed consequences. Just typical incel rhetoric.
