We really do need to stop those fat cat regulators from harassing the woefully underfunded air force. /s
Had a guy pass me on the right going 20+ over the limit while taking a bong hit.
Capitalism that is bounded by strong regulations that are consistently and fairly enforced by government (the people) entities isn't that bad.
It's when those regulations get watered down or just removed in the name of "freedom" that we get what we have now.
It's best not to feed the trolls
I agree the fines that are issued for these companies is way to low. But on the bright side the FTC is actually doing their job and if it is making C-suite executives even the slightest bit nervous I'm for it. Yep I know that is a low bar but it's something
A week before the Hamptons fund-raiser, on July 25, Mr. Trump stunned one of his wealthiest patrons, Miriam Adelson, the widow of the casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, by having an aide, Natalie Harp, fire off a series of angry text messages to Mrs. Adelson in Mr. Trump’s name, according to three people with knowledge of what took place.
The texts were particularly jarring because Mrs. Adelson and Mr. Trump had a friendly meeting just a week earlier at the Republican National Convention, according to a person briefed on the matter. The texts complained about the people running Mrs. Adelson’s super PAC, Preserve America, into which she is pouring millions of dollars to support Mr. Trump.
At the time, Preserve America was spending nearly $18 million on a week’s worth of ads aiding Mr. Trump in three battleground states. The texts said that the officials running Preserve America were “RINOs” — Republicans in name only — and that Mrs. Adelson’s late husband would never have tolerated that, the people said.
According to two of the people, aides to Mrs. Adelson later discovered that the outburst against her had been encouraged by another major Trump donor, Ike Perlmutter, the former chairman of Marvel Entertainment, who had hoped in vain that Mrs. Adelson would contribute to a rival super PAC that he backs.
They are starting to eat their own.
He makes good points. I think his error is calling the people at the "press" conference journalist. They are not. They are content creators.
Their job isn't to get to the truth, it's to drive clicks and comments. It's to enrich them and their employer.
There are good journalist still out there but since they don't play to the almighty ALGORITHM they get drowned out.
one of the reasons the justice system favors the wealthy
Maybe, but really when you are in bear territory, and close to areas where bear congregate (rivers being one), just a few loud claps and a couple of loud "HEYS" is good enough to flush most bears.
My opinion:
Humanity doesn't evolve sociologically or technologically with out weird. If the world was all middle of the road beige "yes" men and women to what those in power say is correct way to live, laugh and love then the interesting things in this world die.
"Weird" people are the ones that challenge this middle of the road thinking. They are the brave ones. They are the ones that say fuck it to this middle of the road life and just do their thing. I envy the Weird, they have to fight against the easier/conformist way of living to be themselves, but by doing so they are happier and in a small way they make the world a better more interesting place.
In this context I talk of weird as in good weird, trump et. al. are not weird by my definition they are instead the ones fighting against the weird because to them it's scary, different and it challenges their hold on reality and what is "right."
This video while long does a great job teaching you how to act in active bear territory.
The TLDW is: -
- In active bear territory carry bear spray and be ready to use it
- You can't out run a bear don't try
- bear bells don't work
- playing dead makes it easier for the bear to maul you
- when hiking with a group and encounter an aggressive bear stand shoulder to shoulder and prepare your bear spray
- let the bear decide how they want to leave the encounter (if they are not attacking you)
- outside of a momma bear, most "attacks" are bluffs but can be scary as shit.
- guns work but you better be a good and quick shot cuz bears run fast and are very intimidating doing so
- a gun shot can help scare away most bears
From a different post but I think it works here too:
