Today I decided to check with a couple of local insurance agencies to see if I could get my family's current coverage any cheaper. I never searched for this specific topic, only for contact info to reach out to a couple of agencies. Then I made two phone calls, sent two emails via the Gmail app including my current policies declaration pages, and I received one text message from an insurance agency. Now my news stream is flooded with ads for comparing insurance rates and changing companies.

I quit Reddit and deleted my account after nearly a decade last week. I just found it to be a source of consistent stress. It got to the point where the most innocuous comments kept getting me temporarily banned from subreddits. The final coffin nail was when somebody posted an article about how the Trump administration scrubbed all the information on HIV/AIDS from government health websites. I replied in the comments, "Double plus good." Apparently Redditors thought that I was endorsing this censorship as a good idea and downvoted me. So to clarify, I edited my comment and said underneath, "For those downvoting me, read the novel 1984 by George Orwell." That's all. I didn't say, "You fucking idiots need to read a goddamn book!" I simply cited the reference for my original comment. For this statement I got a three day ban not just from the subreddit but all of Reddit due to harassment. The ban was automatically imposed by the bots, so I had an opportunity to appeal and have a real person review it. I did so, fully expecting anybody who actually looked into it to be reasonable, but they kept the ban in place, so I decided enough was enough.

There are more stars in the visible universe than there are grains of sand on all the beaches in the world.

I'm an Android/Google/Pixel person. I have a Google Home speaker at work (self-employed barber/stylist) and was playing old classic country music a few weeks ago. My client mentioned that her husband's favorite artist is Porter Wagoner and his favorite song is Cold Hard Facts Of Life. Well, guess what the very next song was? And now, ever since then, I've been inundated with that song. It plays constantly.

Yeah. I was on Reddit for nearly a decade and permanently deleted my account last week because of the consistent bans. It's ridiculous. Like it's to the point where the site is unusable now

So my husband and I are avid viewers of all the English language versions of the Drag Race franchise. We started watching the series with the premiere of the very first episode of the very first American season. But we often have very different feelings about the contestants.

I was kind of rooting for Hormona Lisa from the beginning of season 17 just because all the other queens seemed to hate her, so my instinct to cheer for the underdog came out. I did initially find her a bit annoying but now I find her endearing. However, she gets on my husband's nerves. So we had mixed reactions to her elimination. Thoughts?

I'm an Android person (P9PXL) but I'm in a mixed marriage with an Apple person. Lol. The iPhone SE 3rd generation only has a 4.7" screen and it's 5G.

He also indicated that he would be dictating programming at one of the nation’s premier cultural institutions, specifically declaring that he would end events featuring performers in drag.

OMG. I just discovered Lemmy yesterday after being a Redditor for a decade. I deleted my Reddit account after the insane level of suppression I've endured over the past year and was all set to go cold turkey when I found out about Lemmy! Praise the sweet lil' six pound, eight ounce baby Jesus!!
