I don't know of many nations that would survive the unrelenting assault of a burgeoning superpower for 8 decades.

Initially, pretty poor. ND Stevenson was a webcomic artist. The show was remade in order to reclaim a shitty toy commercial and make it into an examination of identity and self-worth, against a backdrop of (cartoonish) empire.

Look, if you write off the whole industry, you create a massive cultural gulf between yourself and everyone who watches anything. Meanwhile, movies like Snowpiercer or Sorry To Bother You manage to speak to people you would never dream of reaching out to.

Your vet would be very confused and there would be a lot of mixup whenever you needed medication for your pet.

Taxonomy is shitty and imprecise but it serves an important purpose.

I think the scariest thing is that it isn't a disinformation campaign. Disinformation and propaganda are part of partisan politics (for instance, Republicans still think Joe Biden wanted to defend the police and Democrats still think there's a pee tape). Just stating true facts is enough to get people arguing.

If we would just accept facts we didn't like, a lot of these foreign actors would have a lot less power.

Michael Hudson calls it out fairly regularly.

I'm sorry this is so hard. My experience was: recovery takes roughly 1/2 the length of the relationship

From what you wrote here, you have a lot of work to do before you're a good partner. You really need to be able to stand by yourself fully before you can stand with somebody. You have good qualities: take the time to find them and nurture them.

I downvoted because it's a bad meme, not a bad message

Voxes sound so good.

I just dropped $560 on an Arturia Minifreak to replace my Microkorg XL+ that has a busted tempo knob.

Those are synths. I'm a bassist. Gear is addictive, yo.

The fuck is the point of this?

Messaged!

I'm well aware of the racket. I recently returned to college after 15 years of working, and I knew back then how the racket worked. It's only gotten worse. The extra injury is that one of these texts is for an introductory course that goes into less detail than any decent youtube series. I understand most people won't be going into a course of study after a decade of personal interest in the subject, but even freshman students in a STEM subject shouldn't be this ignorant. Looking ahead at the syllabus and powerpoints, I learned all of this in middle school.

But college textbooks are absurdly expensive. Can anyone point me to some options for digital textbooks that don't have stupid drm?
