Yeah after getting used to the not-totally-assholes community of lemmy I'm not going back to reddit. The community there kinda sucks

Am I missing something? I thought Mastodon worked just like lemmy where you can subscribe cross-instance
The difference is that while lemmy does have a theoretical sum of upvotes minus downvotes, the website doesn't calculate it and display it for you and everyone else to see.
If you want to find your total score on lemmy you have to install a script that allows you to see your own total. Or grab a calculator and get adding

Does this include hate subs? So many subs taking genuine criticism and turning it into 24 hr content leading to nothing but cesspits of rage. r/fuckcars, r/antiwork - I know there were more
To be fair to the /s we do live in a world with flat-earthers and antivaxxers. These days it can be exceedingly difficult to tell between the smartasses and dumbasses
But what I disliked about reddit was when trolls from some subreddits would spam CP to get other subreddits closed

Absolutely. I migrated from lemmy.ml when that was having too many sign-ups, and I'm not opposed to migrating from lemmy.world to help with their load. I'm sure I'm one of many
The change was so evident, even for someone like me who (used to) not keep up with reddit drama and inner workings. AMAs used to be so fun, they'd always end up on the front page. I can't remember the last one (other than Rick Astley's) that wasn't a bore
Third party apps were only the tip of the iceberg. The bigger issue is the increasing monetization of data and recommendations across the site. This whole thing is ultimately about who will shape the internet: users or corporations. That's why it's silly for people to pretend there's a neutral opinion
