I've been browsing Reddit logged out and haven't seen even one thing that made me want to comment since the apps got shut down. It really does seem like the content quality has tanked.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but I've never had any trouble logging in with Jerboa. It'd be my favorite app but it has framerate issues on my device, so I'm using Thunder.
I'm savvy enough to know that automatic renewal is activated whenever you accept those "2 days of prime, free!" offers when you're checking out, but the messages don't mention that, and Amazon is experienced enough to know that some people won't intuit it, so it's obviously a deliberate scam.

As for the content, nothing is stopping individuals from removing or exporting their comments. There are automated tools that will do this for you with very little effort.
I've been thinking about this. Shouldn't we be copying rising posts from Reddit to their respective communities on Lemmy? It would help bridge the content gap while the userbase is still growing, and it's all public information.
