You joke about murdering old people, but we do need to stop keeping them alive in states we wouldn’t keep an animal in. We spend a fortune on pointless end of life care with no chance of quality of life. Proper assisted suicide would greatly help the issue. Let them choose to go gracefully.

It not that people are against everyone having the basics, it is that it mathematically makes no sense. As soon as you give everyone this money, not just a small trial you’ll see that it is immediately eaten in inflation, rent etc.

Much better is to make the first $1000 dollars not necessary. Free staple foods, free healthcare, free low tier usage on utilities, free local public transport.

Because car speedometers are not calibrated by law, and can be off a few percent. Changes in temperature can change tire radius as well.

After all that you then get into court proceeding of proving speed gun calibration has to be perfect.

Take 1 trillion dollars from the billionaires in total, now distribute 1K to each person each month? Sounds great but you run out of money in only 3 months. Then what?

The NFL has got bad enough I question whether it is still ok for kids to watch.

If your company isn’t planning on increasing their salary by 50% over the first couple of years then it is a waste of time. You take the hit of all the training and unproductive first year, then they go somewhere else.

Unless you live in one of the handful of close states, your vote red or blue makes no difference to the electoral college. Why give either of these your symbolic popular vote.

No 3rd party will win, but a rising 3rd party is competition that may at least raise an issue’s prominence or worry the main parties enough to pull their finger out and run better candidates.
