I'm quietly hopeful that more and more people migrate over to lemmy, if it wasn't for all this api nonsense I'd have never heard of the fediverse. I don't know how it passed me by but I'm glad to be here now.

I didn't mind the first series but the changes they made were fundamental to the story, and tak is much more of a bad ass in the books lol.
At the bottom of the app to the left of the little mail box is the search I think.
Couldn't agree more, I always hear people try to frame it as some sort of hatred for the English but I've never felt this way. I'm not nationalistic at all, not a flag waver for anybody but I'd like a government that acts in the interest of the public and not in their donors interests. We have a choice between the tories who have presided over a long period of austerity, stripping public services and labour who don't seem to know who they are anymore, any progressive policy seems to be walked back for fear of upsetting the right wing voters.
Altered carbon is great as is the follow up book. The Netflix series really did the story dirty. Fast paced action with a sci fi noir feel.

It's just the way things are going, the problem at the moment is form factor but the end game is to have an ar device that looks as much like a standard pair of glasses as possible.
I'm old enough to remember what everyone said about the iPhone when it released and I was one of those who scoffed at it, I was using a Nokia maybe the n95 at the time and it could surf the Internet and do everything the iPhone could do and it had a front camera and a keyboard. I thought the iPhone to be an over priced gimmick. Needless to say I was very wrong. Apple have the money and patience to keep iterating on the vision pro to make it cheaper smaller and more accessible. I think it's great to have them bring so much attention to this space.
The diamond age is good and if you haven't read snow crash you should, it's a great book.
Totally, I've come from joey for reddit, I'll stick with lemmy I think. I hadn't heard about lemmy or mastodon or the fediverse at all before yesterday, if one good thing has come out of this it's raising the profile of decentralised social media.

I read they have 2000 staff members, why so many? The moderation is done by volunteers, just seems excessive.
What kind of a world are we living in where someone can't just get something to eat? No wonder the guy is out there stress eating burritos, he was panicking that she'd find out he'd had a whole calzone to himself for lunch and only got her a limp sandwich.
