Buff

It was an attempt at a joke on the fact that God doesn't exist, which is why he tends to not answer prayers, which is similar to answering no.
So obviously even the Pope will get a no too.

But apparently I failed miserably.

He did this while kids are dying in trenches on the war front.

Musk is so full of shit, Ukraine doesn't draft below the age of 25!!
Hey Musk maybe you should concentrate more on the people who are dying because your cars have shitty safety!!
It's not just a little shitty either, Tesla has the worst accident statistic of ALL brands.
His cars should be illegal, but instead he receives enormous government subsidies. He is the biggest leech on society EVER!!

To be fair, in the last frame dad is not pretending.

They are a greedy nation and poor allies.

They were great help when Yugoslavia broke down.
They were also great help, although with some hold backs to help Ukraine, it's absolutely nonsense to say otherwise.
The basis for the Europe-USA friendship is also that USA helped enormously way beyond any European country's ability in WW2. And the Americans actually secured freedom for western Europe, very contrary to the part that Soviet Union occupied.
USA was also great aid for Europe when the Soviet collapsed, making for instance Poland one of the countries where USA was most popular after that.

Unfortunately cracks began to appear already with Bush Jr. and the false intelligence on Iraq. And obviously under Trump who threatened to not respect article 5. And obviously now where Trump behaves like a mafia boss.
But there is no doubt we'd prefer normal relations restored, where USA and allies cooperate on real issues around the world.
Unfortunately Trump makes normal relations impossible.

The US is only such a powerhouse, because they generally have the support of their allies. That makes it the unparalleled biggest economic block in the world.
But without their allies, USA isn't that much stronger than China economically. And USA wouldn't be nearly the powerhouse they've gotten used to be.

So China just has to look on and do nothing, while USA is losing their world dominance quickly.

heavily biased to the point that I think it’s natural for people to have a poor understanding of fascism.

There's absolutely a tendency to gloss over things in American teachings in general history included.
So yes I agree, that could very well be part of the problem.

I learned through high school that the US had never lost a war.

Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan.
So I guess your point was easily mostly proven.

Very fitting analogy. 👍

I absolutely agree, American democracy seriously needs to be reformed, as it is it is at best a dysfunctional democracy. And I think the evidence should be very clear on that now.

Maybe I'm wrong, but as I read the article, Linus isn't convinced this is a good idea either.
I'm not saying things can never change, but opening for a mixed code base is a recipe for disaster.

That's not true, lots of companies left, some even at great cost.
Some remained under local names, I think for instance Coco Cola.
We've seen recordings of shopping malls where many shops were gone, and many of the remaining shops sold obvious counterfeit western brands.
Also a lot of business is decidedly illegal to continue in Russia due to sanctions.

That seems brutal, will they ever recover?

It's amazing that the ATACMS super missile Ukraine is now receiving from USA, is actually 30 years old. And Ukraine is getting it as USA deploy more modern missiles.

Ukraine can hold back and beat Russia using last gen NATO equipment. Of course only because it's combined with Ukrainian skill and will to fight.

But it must be embarrassing for Russia to be beat with last gen NATO tech that is superior to what Russia has.

Crazy amount of lost Russian personnel

The total combat losses of the enemy from 24.02.22 to 20.10.23 were approximately:
personnel ‒ about 292060 (+1380) persons,

APV ‒ 9557 (+120),
artillery systems – 7012 (+29),
MLRS – 822 (+4),
Anti-aircraft warfare systems ‒ 548 (+0),
aircraft – 320 (+0),
helicopters – 324 (+0),
UAV operational-tactical level – 5326 (+8),
cruise missiles ‒ 1535 (+1),
warships / boats ‒ 20 (+0),
submarines - 1 (+0),

Strike the occupier! Let's win together! Our strength is in the truth!

This is now a whole week with high losses for Russia.

Best wishes to the Ukrainian defenders.

Some crazy numbers again today, for instance 990 personnel and 42 tanks.

  • Screen HDR10 Amoled has an insane 2600 nits!
  • The screen is FLAT (Thank you Xiaome) 👍
  • Cameras are amazing (Video slowmotion at 720p 960fps) 😋
  • IP68 dust/water resistant
  • 120 Watt Charger
  • Mediatek Dimensity 9200+ (Claimed to beat Snapdragon 8 Gen 2)
  • 4 generations up to Android 17 Android upgrades and 5 year security support

Obviously It has all the expected sensors and features.

The corners that were cut to get the price down are pretty few IMO:

  • Gorilla Glass 5 instead of Victus.
  • Plastic instead of Alu edge.
  • No Wireless charging

Here (Denmark) the Xiaome 13T Pro is cheaper than One Plus 11, and it beats it in every aspect. It's almost (but not quite) as good as the Samsung S23 Ultra. To me this seems by far the best option in the price range.

The non pro is $100 cheaper, and you get a slightly less powerful SOC, 67 Watt charger instead of 120, less RAM/Storage, although there are ranges for both.

Edit PS 09. Oct. 2023

Just ordered the pro version with 12 GB Ram and 512 MB storage for € 669,- including tax or USD 565,- excluding tax.

I was waiting for our Solar panels to go online, and that was finally finished today.

I originally planned to buy the One Plus 11, but the curved screen and opposing power/volume buttons turned me away from that.

I'm extremely excited as my current phone is a very cheap older budget phone (Moto G9 power). It has served me surprisingly well, considering it was sub $200 including tax.

Another day another victory for Ukraine. Or rather a couple victories.

Many great tidbits, and interesting how Jake says Russia moved troops from Donetsk to the south to defend the breached defense line. And now we hear Ukraine is progressing towards Donetsk. 😀

Although this is from yesterday, I thought there were some good points, that makes it worth seeing.
