Wouldn't it make more sense to consider the income that can afford the rent as some % of expenses, rather than just doubling it?

  1. Misalignment is a huge problem in any black-box system, not just in AGIs.
  2. What would it look like for us to be close to AGI? I have doubts that we're close, but it seems at least plausible.

I might be very confused, but if a two-bedroom household requires ~$30/h, wouldn't that be ~$15/h each?

I read it as pro-gyn-nova

  • Pro: as in professional/effective
  • Gyn: woman (from Proto-Indo-European *gwen), like in gynocology
  • Nova: new (in many romance languages)

It rolls off the tongue and encapsulates three important aspects. I'm sure there are other readings of it too.

Fix the system, make a new system, buy discerningly. Have a garden if you can and advocate for more of them if you want. Fight against monoculture, irresponsible fertilizer and pesticide use, copyright abuse, and more. None of that is an irreplacable part of growing food at a large and efficient scale.

By the way, I'm curious about the Haber-Bosch figure. Isn't that the process that allows us to easily make fertilizer, and greatly increase productivity? It seems like that 5% is doing much more heavy lifting than, for example, the ~20% from cow burps.

To poor for vegetables, lentils, beans, grains, and tofu? Meat imitations are currently expensive, but aren't at all necessary.

Not in a finite space, no. But it could have infinite detail without infinite length (like the square with corners folded in to approximate a circle).

First, a note: Extreme encounters are mathematically a 50/50 chance of a TPK (if fought to the death), since danger roughly doubles every two levels and enemy levels are roughly equivalent to player levels. Tactics, an extra player, and planning can tilt this balance, but I'd still reconsider unless this level of lethality is what you had in mind.

My favorite monster builder is https://monster.pf2.tools/ and the guidelines for creation are at https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2874. I'd suggest picking picking a basic roadmap (in the builder), designing one or two core abilities, and tweaking from there. It's always a good idea to compare against monsters of a similar level to get an idea of ability power levels, and what trade-offs powerful abiilties typically have.

Some ideas:

  • Knucklotec fists as a reach 15 weapon, and flavored as the fist flying to their target.
  • The fists as minions to be commanded (more complicated, as you have to create and balance more than one creature).
  • Depending on how mobile the main body is, potentially just an inert target, which the hands as the active creatures.
  • Party actions are more numerous than enemy actions, so other mechanisms like hardness, resistances, or saving throws might protect the core more than a single reaction. Still flavored at your discretion.
  • Depending on desired fantasy, the core could act as a spellcaster to buff the hands and debuff players.

A lot of that depends on now much independance you want the fists to have, because there's a whole gamut of options from intelligent trap, to solo creature with flavored abilities, to boss with minions, to three distinct entities.

A "cure" in this situation means an essentially guaranteed method of treatment. Cancers vary greatly, with some being benign, some being very treatable, and some being extremely deadly (at least with current technology).

Proton Drive is online-only so I’m not sure what you’re asking here. Are you asking if you can download files?

The Google Drive app lets you save a file locally so that you can view it offline. I mean under the hood it is just downloading and syncing, but it's a lot nicer than having to manage the files you want to view offline yourself.

That’s a big negative.

Why? Desktop file backup seems like a pretty similar feature to mobile photo backup (which seems to be working for me).

Edit: also looking at some videos of the Windows client, folder syncing seems to be possible. Just not yet on Linux. Still not sure why it would be bad.

Good question, I'm not sure what your stance is. You seem to be saying two different things.

  • Prisoners should have work available to them so that they can maintain a sense of normalcy and reintegrate with society.
  • Prisoners are in prison of their own choice, so we can make them work against their will.

Are those both representations of your beliefs? I don't want to strawman you.
