LMAO! I think the sketch I did first was pretty close and as I painted I got further and further away and didn't notice until I was done. I'm trying to just use one layer like a traditional painter would and it floated away from me one at a time. I made marks for chin, eyes, mouth, ears, and so on along with the sketch.
Normally I'd step away from the painting and come back and fix and go again (trying to mirror Pablo Picasso), but as I'm practicing for these painting sessions I won't be able to do that so I'm trying to find a new technique (like Tigger Woods did for his golf swing) that will work in those sessions and I'm struggling.
I almost did younger Sammy when I did this one. But I'm old and like old. I'll do young next.

BC (before children) I used to draw serious comic book characters exclusively. As my kids got older I started with the other style as they loved watching me draw and I wanted to draw something more to their tastes.
I saw an artist on DeviantArt who was so good I had to try something like it.
