Just noticed this and came here to post the exact same thing. It's odd because the behavior for other buttons like save post is correct in that they don't activate until you release them without scrolling. The up/down vote buttons behave differently for some reason.

Awesome, thanks!
Great update! The app feels more responsive now in addition to all the nice new features.
One thing I noticed is that disabling swiping up to close images also completely disabled the ability to drag images around the screen when not zoomed (i.e. scroll outside the image bounds. As someone who often uses Connect with other app windows displayed on too, it would be useful to still keep this ability even when swipe to close is off.
Also, going back from an image view (I use gesture control, so swiping away from the left/right edge) feels very slow and unresponsive compared to going back from a post comments view.
I think it's more that they've been given the loudest megaphone. Think about how much other countries are exposed to US news and media and compare that to how much the US listens to news and media from other countries.
This is just a guess as I haven't looked at the source code for anything, but I think this is because instances may take a long time to get all the old posts from a community when they first start getting ActivityPub updates from it (when a user first subscribes to the remote community). When sorting by hot, it seems like the time the post was received via ActivityPub is used for sorting instead of the time it was originally created.
I'd really like to be able to customize the swiping actions. I only ever swipe to hide posts, and having to always make sure I swipe exactly the right distance is fairly annoying.
This makes me wonder, how often do people's disabilities manifest in their dreams? Presumably the rates would be different for those born with their disability and those who got it through illness or injury later in life.
