Nobody is forcing defederation on users. Users can move to another instance. If you have a hard time finding and instance that allows you to view their toxic propaganda then maybe you should join their instance.

Disagree. Defederation is an important tool to be used. I applaud their stance against hate speech. Any instance that supports violence against anyone for that matter should be treated the same.

I was thinking about stray yesterday and really sad about the robot that sacrificed herself and the little Droid last of humanity did to save the cat. Omg.

Oot was always one that stuck with me. The sonic games on mega drive were my first console games but oddly enough one game I'll never forget is tuk goes to town on csx64 lol.

Yeah not proud of that one. I'd rather take credit for Pringles.

I mean they own the hardware and they're not being paid. It's gracious of any admin if they ask people's opinions. They run their servers because they do it as a hobby and enjoy it. What they believe is what is law on their property. If you Don't agree you can move, that's why it's great. Start your own! And if the hardware changes hands it will mean rules may change. It's not a bad thing, I means people are free to run their instance as they believe fit.

I think it's good to see what other instances are discussing about even if thye inky affect their own instance. It shows which instance this is posted on so it's clear it's not applicable to say lemmy.world but I want to see if other instances have had to take a stand against certain instances so I can avoid them until degenerated by say, my instance or if I need to move instances to enjoy that defederation.

If you own a house you get a day in what is allowed in it as long as it's not illegal. Also it's best to nip the roots of terrorism in the bud before they use kbin as a platform to organize mass murder.

Thought it was assuming someone you're talking to needs to be eli5 something like properly configuring a firewall. As a woman I always have to step on eggshells not to embarass guys doing that because every time I mention anything that indicates I have experience in IT and tech support they seem put off and stop talking to me lol... especially if then I try to share what I've done to fix an issue that has been plaguing say the office and they don't understand what I'm talking about. I think though intersecting into someone's conversation is very rude at least where I'm from. In public I don't expect to interact with a stranger unless they're about to warn me about a bobcat behind me lol. I don't interject in other people's conversations even though I may be knowgeable about it because who am I to them? They're having a friendly conversation and I walk up and go "xcuse me ma'am, actually, it was Jennifer Lopez that was being referenced in the taco kisses episode of South Park, not Shakira". Again, just awkward?

Oh goodness no. I would hate anything if anyone from work attempted to use it to socialize with me. I just so happen to work with my BFF but I don't talk to my coworkers unless it's work related hahah. Oh man that would ruin anything but fortunately caused me to leave Facebook a few years ago.

As an Italian my only experience with them has been being mugged so lol... but yes they're very much disliked.
